DVD Talk review of 'The Woods Have Eyes'
I read Paul Mavis's DVD review of The Woods Have Eyes at http://www.dvdtalk.com/reviews/read.php?ID=30645 and...
I thought that The Woods Have Eyes was a great movie. Critics tend to look for the worst. Not the average movie goer/renter. In fact, kudos to the entire production team for acting on a dream and at least trying to make a movie, creating jobs, and frankly just having fun creatively and not just talking about it. Not every movie can be a 300 or a Forest Gump. Which both got slammed by critics. Also, we have all seen bad movies. But while you were watching it did you trash the production staff and actors? They tried! And that is what matters. I was in the test audience and they LOVED the movie! And that is what matters. It is a real shame that a critic can hamper the efforts of some really well meaning people just because ONE MAN does not like it. I highly recommend The Woods Have Eyes. Rent or buy the movie and see for yourself. Do not take the opinion of one man. I would love to see if he could have done any better.

As for it being a "shame that a critic can hamper the efforts of some really well meaning people," (again, there's that degree of intention with "well meaning"), all you have to do is read some of the threads on this forum where reader after reader has avowed that no critic influences their opinion whether or not to see a film. My one review won't "hamper" The Woods Have Eyes.

Thank you for your insight. I would have to agree with you. I just have a problem with people trashing something that someone put so much time and effort into. Maybe we do not all have great taste but if we believe in something so strongly to go the distance and make a movie about a vision the film maker had, a little credit is due. I guess that is just the way I think. I really appreciate effort. You Know! Thank you for your response!
