Worthy of the hype: Friday Night Lights

I didn't see a general thread, just individual episode discussions and season 2 speculation/news threads, so apologies if this is unwarranted. Also since the recent DVD release, surely I'm not the only one watching for the first time... so...

I love this show! I've torn through 10 episodes in a couple days time and I can't get enough. My wife wants to watch with, but I can't wait for her. Sorry, hon. Full steam ahead.

I found the Pilot to be overly predictable with nothing really surprising, but since the first episode each character has grown a great deal. A couple of minor characters could still use some work, like Matt's non football friends and relationships, but I'd have to say this is probably the best high school drama since Freaks & Geeks. The characters that are developed are well developed.

Kyle Chandler is excellent, as always. Connie Britton has been given a few moments to shine which is good. I think she's an underrated actress and hasn't really had a shining role. I'm especially loving the development of Matt Seracen and his particular love interest.

I'm TIVO'ing the new season so it's ready to go when I finish the DVD set. I've read it's been on the fence, so I'm now in and lending my support.

Anyway, anyone else new to the FNL train want to discuss?

We can never have enough FNL threads.

By the way, Mrs Coach plays a bigger role in the later half of the season.

Hey - I got it the week it came out, and you're right! I blazed through them. What a fantastic show! Interested to see what happens this season. Glad it has been moved to relatively conflict-free Friday night too.

After having finished the S1 DVDs I feel like I haven't seen old friends in a while. I can't imagine how I'm going to survive waiting a week between episodes!!!

I was tuned in to each and every episode last season and will continue to watch this season as well.

Glad to see there is some support out there for it.

I thought it was a brilliant move by them to release the season 1 set so soon, and at such a low price (even if they did have to change some of the music), on the same day that the Heroes set came out. Hopefully word of mouth will increase the viewership. Although I have to say, if not for me religiously checking, I might have missed this week's premiere, I don't remember seeing any commercials for it.

I discovered the show about the mid-way point last season and am really glad I did. I just hope Friday's won't be the death slot for it.

I have always favored StigmataLingus

Careful ... The episode that airs Friday was(is) available at YahooTV, asking questions may get you some spoilage on the premiere.

I watched the first season 3 times.

I live my life vicariously through a handful of people living in a small Texas town. (I think I found my sig)

My wife is from a small Texas town and is part of the reason she's loving the show. She says they've nailed the small town 'talk.'

Never, Never can get enough of FNL!

I'm 90% certain that CB is scheduled to be on Conan tonight..and
KC and CB are scheduled to be on the Today Show tomorrow.

Some guy from Tv.Guide.com said he saw the first 4 episodes and said that it's better than last season... Is that even possible?

It's still mind boggling that NOT one of them got a Emmy Nod.

This is KC's best work since Homefront. He will never get another role at this caliber.

Really? That's awesome news. I saw the premier on YahooTV (but I'll probably watch it again), so I'm really looking forward to next week.

Wow. Talk about getting what I asked for. From my original post my main gripes (10 episodes in)

- needs more Connie Britton
- Matt's friends/family need more development

So what do I get in episode 11?

- Mrs. Taylor getting involved in Riggin's and Street's lives
- Landry getting some more development, Riggin's tutor and Crucifictorious?
- Matt's home life getting some BIG developments. I'll keep that spoiler free for anyone else just now watching.

Awesome stuff. And was that Cat's in the Cradle I heard the last few plays of the game? It sounded like a Muzak "we couldn't get the rights" knock-off. I see on tvrage that Audioslave contributed a track but I don't remember hearing it. I guess that got cut.

I'm stuck at work when I should be chewing through a few more episodes. Arrrggghh!!

FNL is awesome. Totally missed this last season, but ripped through the eps last week. Can't wait for the premiere tomorrow (going to hold out on the online version for the HD feed).

Keep watching... There is an unbelievable scene between Tami and Julie coming up soon. It gave me chills and made me be thankful I don't have daughters.

My wife also put the brakes on me watching these eps without her.

Great Show, looking forward to the new season!

Nah, doesn't bother me. They are 1 & 3 so I have a ways to go before I have to start worrying.
