Acoustic Guitar Repair-ish question.

Hey everybody, I recently bought a 12 string I've been fixing up, haven't even put strings on it yet.

I noticed that there was a small crack throughout the bridge where the pegs hold the strings down (my guess is from misuse/tightening too tight of the last user), and now I am going to be replacing it. I already ordered the new bridge, but now I need to figure out how to take off the old one. What is the proper way? I don't want to pry it off and damage the wood, and there aren't any screws holding onto it.

Any help would be awesome.

^ Correct. Acoustic bridges are held in place with glue... Be careful if you choose to do this yourself instead of taking it to a shop, it can be tricky.

Personally, I would have tried to use some wood glue and a clamp to seal the crack before considering bridge replacement.
