Rage's Zack de la Rocha Completes Solo Album

Quick! Time to get a new algebra notebook, because you'll soon have a whole mess of new lyrics to scrawl all over the margins!
That's right: today comes news, via Billboard.com, that ex-ex-Rage Against the Machine frontman Zack de la Rocha has finished his very first solo record, a labor of love Zack has been attacking since Rage initially split back in 2000.
De la Rocha collaborated with Golden stickman and one-time Mars Volta/Royal Trux drummer Jon Theodore on the LP and recorded some of it at a studio belonging to acousti-surfer-dude Jack Johnson. Zack doesn't have a title for the record and is still considering his release options, so no word yet when he'll rally 'round your family with this pocket full of new songs.
It's also unclear whether post-millennial de la Rocha collaborations with DJ Shadow, ?uestlove, and Trent Reznor will make the LP. Billboard.com, however, quotes a source saying that Zack's first solo foray sounds like a mix of "Led Zeppelin and Dr. Dre. Some of it has the power you'd expect from him in Rage." So there's that.
Witness this so-called power as the reunited Rage rock a pair of festivals in late October.
RAAAAAAAGE:
10-27 New Orleans, LA - City Park (Voodoo Music Experience)
10-28 Las Vegas, NV - Sam Boyd Stadium (Vegoose Festival)

And just in time for me to not give a shit. Seriously, maybe this would have mattered to people when Rage broke up, but now with the reuniting and all I don't think this is what the fans are waiting for. I honestly don't know what took him so damn long to do this. He's been working on it for what, like 6 or 7 years. The guy ain't Axl Rose. I'll still download a couple tracks off his myspace just to see if it was worth the wait.

actually i would prefer zack only did solo rap albums with no rock music in it. zack is an awesome rapper and the ratm muscians have been sucking (in my opinion) on everything after album 2 (except for "no shelter"). their later stuff sounds very plain, way less hard, and over-produced. and tom just seems to make weird (non-interesting) sounds for the sake of it.
there is a mixtape called "mash up radio" that zack has an awesome freestyle on and he has a great track with krs-1 out there too.

Looks like this is finally happening:

This morning, de la Rocha has made his inaugural bid as a solo artist with a new single called “Digging For Windows.” The track is produced by El-P, who collaborated with de la Rocha on the Run the Jewels 2 highlight “Close Your Eyes (And Count to Fuck).”
Rumors and reports about a Zack de la Rocha solo record have swirled for almost two decades. Questlove, DJ Shadow, and Trent Reznor have all talked about sessions with the Rage frontman. In 2003, de la Rocha’s DJ Shadow collaboration “March of Death” was released and an album was promised to come out that year. Obviously, that didn’t happen, and multiple interviews with de la Rocha and his collaborators pointed to the album’s sessions being shelved entirely. Reznor said in 2011:
We did some stuff that I thought was pretty cool, and it was frustrating because I also knew it would never see the light of day. It would get to the point where—Zack, I’m saying this with love—but it was the riddle of “I can’t do this, it sounds too much like Rage.” “OK, let’s do that.” “I can’t do that, it doesn’t sound enough like what you’d expect me to do.” There’s a few good tracks laying around, but it’s up to him. I doubt that’s going to see the light of day.
Then, earlier this year, El-P posted a photo of de la Rocha in the studio with Run the Jewels and Nas. In an interview about Prophets, de la Rocha’s Rage bandmate Brad Wilk revealed that Zack was “making a record right now.”

I wanna see a festival of The Beach Boys playing Smile, Axl Rose playing Chinese Democracy, My Bloody Valentine playing m b v, Dr Dre playing Compton and Zack De La Rocha playing his solo album.
