AC/DC "Plug Me In" DVD box set!!!!

I cannot believe no one's posted about this yet!!!

FROM BLABBERMOUTH.NET:

AC/DC: 'Plug Me In' DVD Box Set Track Listing Revealed - Sep. 7, 2007
Columbia Records will release "Plug Me In" — the ultimate career-spanning DVD box set of live performances, interviews and more from AC/DC, the world's most electrifying rock and roll band — on Tuesday, October 16.

The first AC/DC release since the band came to Columbia Records earlier this year, the AC/DC "Plug Me In" DVD collection brings together for the very first time an astonishing five hours of definitive live concert and television performances — many of them previously unavailable — chronicling the ongoing career (now in its fourth decade!) of a groundbreaking rock and roll powerhouse whose music transcends the test of time.

"AC/DC has delivered the most dynamic rock and roll music in the world," said Steve Barnett, Chairman, Columbia Records. "Columbia is honored to be releasing this definitive career-spanning retrospective featuring many of AC/DC's finest filmed performances."

Disc One of the AC/DC "Plug Me In" DVD collection begins with a performance of "High Voltage" performed in October 1975 on Australia's "King of Pop" awards show. The first disc of "Plug Me In" is devoted to the band's formative years (1975-1979) with the late Bon Scott capturing the group in its full early glory with more than 20 performances including rare black-and-white video footage of the notorious St. Albans High School concert on March 3, 1976; the very first UK television appearance in July 1976; pristine live full-color stereo concert performances from Glasgow and Essex University in 1978; and three songs — including the very first public performance of "Highway To Hell" — from Netherlands television in 1979. Bonus material on Disc One includes a Bon Scott interview from November 1977; extraordinary band interviews from 1976; and four songs recorded live in Nice on December 15, 1979, one of Bon Scott's last concerts with the band before his tragic death on February 19, 1980.

Disc Two of the AC/DC "Plug Me In" DVD collection covers the band's second great epoch: the Brian Johnson era which began with the release of "Back In Black" in 1980 and continues to this day. In addition to more than 20 performances drawn from three decades of concerts around the world — including an extremely rare Japanese television appearance from February 1981, blistering '80s and '90s sets from Detroit to Moscow, incredible footage from 1996's "Ballbreaker" tour (including the "Beavis & Butthead" intro), and 21st century barnburners in Paris, Munich, and Toronto — "Plug Me In" includes a fantastic array of bonus material including the AC/DC Donnington interview on the "Old Grey Whistle Test" (August 1984) and AC/DC's in-concert performance of "Rock Me Baby" with THE ROLLING STONES.

A deluxe collector's edition of "Plug Me In" — containing a third DVD of 21 additional rare performances spanning both the Bon Scott and Brian Johnson eras as well as a treasure trove of facsimile reproductions of authentic AC/DC memorabilia — will also be available for a limited time beginning Tuesday, October 16.

The AC/DC "Plug Me In" DVD box set is both a Holy Grail for aficionados of AC/DC as well as an ideal and comprehensive introduction to the music and history of a pioneering band that continues to define the electrifying possibilities of rock and roll.

Formed in Sydney, Australia in 1973 by brothers Angus and Malcolm Young (still the most formidable electric guitar team in rock), AC/DC released its first album, "High Voltage", in 1975. The group has gone on to sell nearly 70 million albums in the U.S. alone, making AC/DC one of the five best-selling bands in American music history. The "Back In Black" album has achieved RIAA double diamond status, for sales in excess of 21 million copies in the United States, and is the U.S.'s fifth largest-selling album ever.

AC/DC was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2003.

I will definitely be buying the 3 DVD set; between this release and "Family Jewels", I can retire a few bootlegs. AC/DC was DEFINITELY paying attention to KISS's "KISSOLOGY" sets; numerous other bands need to also take note...!!!

Here's a small pic of the 2-DVD version...

I agree that it sounds like an awesome set for fans, but I wish they would do a separate release for the Bon Scott era (never did like Brian Johnson).

I will definately be picking up the 3 disc set, but it appears that one of my favorite AC/DC albums is getting no love, "Fly on the Wall".

Pretty awesome. I'm not a Brian fan past Back in Black and Let there be Rock so most of the interesting stuff for me is on the first disc. I'll be buying the three disc set though.

maybe im getting spoiled but the prices are pretty high for these new sets.

$59.98 list price for the 3 disc set---amazon has it for 44.99 and deep discount looks lowest at $37.66

$29.98 for the 2 disc set---amazon has it for $26.99 and deep discount looks lowest at $18.84

a $30 retail difference between the 2 disc and 3 disc. maybe theres more in the box but im pretty disappointed in the price on these. of course im still in for the 3 disc set, im not sure who would settle for the 2 disc.

BB.com prices:
AC/DC: Plug Me In - 3 DVD set $34.99 with Free Shipping
AC/DC: Plug Me In - 2 DVD set $16.99 with Free Shipping
Don't forget the $1.99 CD while you are there. These are probably going to be the price in the store and the CD is supposed to have a coupon for a few bucks off the DVDs so you might want to buy them in store.

Also, for the month of October Rewards members get 100 bonus points with purchase.

Yes, if you buy the CD in-store for $2.99, you get a coupon for $2.99 off the box set.

(on my knees and praying)
Please Tour. Please Tour. Please Tour. Please Tour. Please Tour. Please Tour.

I saw them 4 years ago at the Sars concert in Toronto. Unreal performance, and I'd love to see them do a full show!!!

I almost bought the 3 disc set, but i decided to hold off until some reviews on the extra disc. Can't believe they are charging over the double the price for the bonus dvd. $16.99 for the 2 discs and $34.99 for the 3 discs at best buy. Anyone get the 3 disc set and checked out the bonus dvd? If it's amazing i'll get it. If not i'll just buy the 2 disc.

i agree the price between the 2 disc and 3 disc was disappointing. but the deluxe does have a poster and some ticket reproductions and backstage passes. its some cool stuff but i would have preferred losing all that and get an extra 10 bucks off instead.

I tried to price match the 3 disk set at Best Buy with the Circuit City price. No problem only they matched the 2 disk price instead. I realized as I was leaving that $37 was a bit cheap for the AC/DC set and the Planet Terror tin. I considered bringing it to their attention but came to my senses and left.

Well i caved in and bought the 3 disc set. I went to Circuit City which they were selling for $31.99. I figured this is the cheapest i'm going to get before the sales end for the week. However all the boxes they had were dented. So i took a flyer and got it priced matched at Bestbuy. And no they didn't make the mistake price matching the 2 disc like Ginwen had. lol Have yet to open it. But i will tonight. Can't wait.

A little update. Wow this set is amazing. Curiously there are no concert footage between 83-91. I would think at least something from the Who Made Who tour. Oh well, fantastic set!!

BB had the 2-disc right up front with the new releases (behind the Tom Petty BB Exclusive set). I panicked, thinking they were already out. Quickly regained my composure and went down the next aisle to the Music DVD's section, and there it was (the 3-disc set). They only had 3 of that version though, so I'm thinking that each store only had 4 or 5 to begin with. I agree with Scarredgod, too. Could have done without all of the reproductions and poster, but I wanted the 3-disc set.

Walmart has a bonus CD w/ 5 live tracks (Guns For Hire, Problem Child, For Those About to Rock & 2 others). Only problem is the bonus only comes with the 2 disc set.
