I went to the Artichoke Joe's (http://poker.wikia.com/wiki/Artichoke_Joe%27s) poker room today in San Bruno, CA (right next to the SFO airport). They had one Lightning SnG Poker Table. No cards or chips. All electronic. And the game went pretty fast (about as fast as online poker).

According to the Lightning Poker website (link above), the Commerce Casino near LA also has one.

Is this really the future of gaming?

I shuffle chips while playing online poker so I think this isn't for me. This reminds of that my name is earl were all them guys play poker together in a room but on there laptops.

Played something similar to this in Greektown. Didn't like it. My buddy cleaned up playing it.

Why I love it:

No dealer mistakes, no slow-rolling by assholes, no fouled deck issues, save a ton of money on tips. Faster games.

Why I hate it:

If I wanted to play on a computer, I'd stay home. Reduced number of tells involving players and their cards. Impersonal feel to the game. People inevitably saying the computer is rigged.

I think this is a novelty and will never catch on.
