Wii Carnival Games: As fun as it looks?

OK, I openly admit, I hate the Wii and all it stands for, however, I'm really thinking about picking up Carnival games. Has anyone here played it? I'm fascinated by 'alley-ball', the clown-head water shooting game, and the nerves of steel. This would be the first Wii game I'll actually play if I decide to make the purchase and I had my Wii since launch. Please give some input on the games if you have this one. At least they didn't smack a $50 price tag on it.

I bought it for my kids last year, and yep, alley ball is what they're callin' skee-ball. It looks pretty good, but I didn't want to take the plunge without a review or two. I can't find it for rent anywhere around here

A couple of talkers picked it up and posted impressions in the Wii thread. Check it out.

Apparently this has become a "sleeper hit" and a hot commodity on eBay.

I really want it, too. But I saw the reviews at IGN and thought differently.

Anxious to see your reviews.

The multi-player setup screen is a bit confusing, and you can't play with your Mii's. As for the games, here's my take (so far):

Skee-ball-about as fun as bowling on WiiSports

Nerves of Steel-impossible (Pull a ring over an twisted wire without touching the wire)

Cat Rack-pretty cool

Hole in one golf-it's mini golf

Shooting gallery-pretty fun

Shoot out the star with a BB gun-cool, but kinda hard

water in the clown head & break the balloon-Nice, but tiring as you have to shake the hell out of the wiimote to build up pressure for the water gun

toss a ball into a field of cups & land on a colored cup-same frustration as the amusement park

Bowling ball on the rails-fun

Roll the balls up the table & get them into diff colored holes to advance your horse-also fun

Football throw through a moving ring-ouch

basketball chucking-it's BKB

pop the balloon w/darts-not as much fun as 301 on Monkey ball

That's all I remember. There is a milk bottle game, but didn't get it yet. The boys are playing 'competition' mode so it gives them 5 random games at a time. I played a couple to show my 5 year old what he was supposed to do, but I'm really just watching right now. Me & the wife will play it later and I'll give a better review. For now I'd say if you have kids, they'll love it. My kids are laughing and screaming while they're playing. I can see myself playing the hell out of skee-ball, even though you only get 6 balls instead of 9

I just got this and went through the game. Couple mini games that is fun and some is just plain boring. I unlocked everything and got everything in just a couple hours. It's fun playing multi player with your friends, other than that I don't think I will play this game alone again.

I tend to agree mostly with what DVDSTEVE said.I bought this for my 10 and 8 year old and it's a hit with them. Me and my G/F played and we had fun with it. She is not a game player at all but with the Wii it has been a GREAT hit at our home. She likes (Wii)it a lot because it's simple to play and they games are fun.
The game is simple and if you go in thinking of it that way, I think you will have fun.
If you have kids and or you play with them I think you will have fun.
My kids love when we all play together and we have a blast. They also get a "kick" because they always seem to beat us

Well, after giving the game a fair amount of gameplay, I'm come to these conclusions:

--My kids love it.
--My wife loves it.
--I like playing it with my wife and/or kids.
--I get bored instantly playing it alone.
--The games are too short. Getting back to replay the game takes as long as it does to throw 3 balls, or throw a couple darts.
--I HATE standing to friggin' play video games for an extended period of time. I stand all day at work, but I want to relax when I play video games.
--Where I used to find a reason to get rid of the wife & kids so I could jam some guitar hero, play bioshock, play oblivion, etc..., I was calling my wife into the room saying "Hon, you ready to play yet?"
--I feel embarrassed shaking the shit out of a controller to try and build up a power meter on a game with cartoon graphics, so I can shoot water into a clown head. I'm 6' 6", 255lbs., and I felt emasculated. I didn't mind it when I was playing it alone...I know, I'm retarded.
--Ah, two weeks to the day until Halo 3 comes out

Bottom line: Get it for your kids, or if you will always have someone to play it with.

You need WiiHelm (watch it through to the end).

We got Zelda at launch and my son played it a bit, but I just couldn't get into it at all. What bothers me about Zelda is...all the reading/no actual dialog, especially at the beginning. People complain about load times on games, this to me is more frustrating. Just have the characters 'say' what's on their mind. This isn't a PS1 or N64 game for Christ's sake, enough with the grunting & reading. Mario games were the same way on the GC, i.e. Sunshine, Luigi's Mansion, Paper Mario. I have nothing against reading mind you, but if I'm going to be reading, I'd rather be reading a-la Oblivion style--items, ingredients, spells, etc...

As for Metroid, I've only ever played one Metroid game (not sure which) and it was average at best. Nintendo just doesn't do it for me. I realize that, and I accept it.
