thanks for the info.

but what kind of deal is that, amazon!? that's the regular price for the set at most retailers now... now if they packaged firefly and the 2-disc serenity deluxe edition for $19.99, that would've been a great DOTD.

I think you mean $29.99 for most retailers. $19.99 for Firefly is pretty darn good. Unless you can show me other prices. Even at DD's 20%, you're looking at $23. Of course, with Amazon, you'll need another $5 for free shipping.

I got it at Target a few months ago for 16.99. May try and convince a friend to pick up the set.

Yeah - Target had it for $16.99 with a regular price of $19.99. In fact Target has some great prices on certain DVDs.

Wouldn't be at all surprised to see this going for $14.99 in the next few months.

then again, it's a fantastic show, that you can watch NOW... for $5 more, it's worth it IMO.

This is the third day in a row with a DVD deal? Go Amazon, really.

Already own this, but thanks OP.

Actually, they have bumped it up to $24.99.

I am in the middle of rewatching the series again. God I wish this show would have lasted longer. :(

With a stack of dvds to watch, its not cheap enough for me to buy. I'll wait till it hits $14.99 and then buy.

I rewatched it last weekend. I loaned Serenity to a buddy of mine and it made me want to revisit the series. I feel the same as you.

Awesome series, mediocre price. As others have stated, this falls to the $17 range every now and then. However, for some this will be the better deal due to tax and shipping issues.

Yep, average deal if you don't have it, great series. But it has been 19.99 or less many times in the past.

If I'm not mistaken, i believe Wal-Mart has it everyday for 19.96 along with the others that they have on an endcap for the same price. I can't remember them all, but I'm sure they had:

Surface: The Complete series
I Dream Of Jeannie S1&2
A few Buffy Seasons
Futurama

That's just to name a few; but I'm sure Firefly was there also (GREAT SHOW)!

If you click the Gold Box description, it says something about being TV on DVD week.

Agreed, I've seen this for a little less.

Still, good deal for people who haven't picked it up yet, or might want it as a gift for someone else. The show is immensely re-watchable, as is the movie. Can't believe it didn't even get a full season... FOX executives didn't know what the heck they had.

I never really thought about the possible blu-ray release... I wonder if Fox would ever release it (they still own the rights to the series, right?)

I seriously doubt it. Since Firefly is a bastard series thanks to Fox, why would they give it the HD treatment.

now, now... you say that, but who woulda thought "Serenity" would have ever made it to HD (plus have a doubledip re-release?)..

Firefly is shown in HD on Universal's HD channel I believe, it looks really good too

Bastard series thanks to FOX tv.

FOX's DVD department loves the series. It has really really good sales for a complete series set. The strong DVD sales were one of the main reasons Universal grabbed the movie rights to make SERENITY.

Serenity also sold really well, and is supposed to be a strong selling HD title. I wouldn't be surprised for FIREFLY to eventually make it to HD.

Well, I hope you're right. And I hope FOX decides to bring it back, if at all possible or make another movie. I'm still amazed at how great Serenity is compared to other movies costing many times more.
