It's actually Amazon's Deal of the Day. Mods, can you please modify the title of the thread ? Lightning Deal is in separate thread. It may confuse folks!

would this show appeal to someone who is 24 years old?

doubtful. I could think of a billion better ways to spend your $100 bucks.

I'm in. 9 disc set, not bad at this price. I'm sure now that i bought it that it'll probably go lower. . .much lower.

That is a great deal. However, I'm still too busy kicking myself over missing the Sergio Leone set to order it.

I too couldn't resist... at retail $229.00 and the cheapest I've seen was $169.99 at best buy on release week, I figure this box won't go much cheaper... and it works out to just under $2.00 per episode plus you get the cool box & toys so why not...

With all the complete series sets that are being released in the 4th quarter of 2007, I hope this is a sign that more of them will be a deal of the day in the coming months. Thanks OP for the heads up. There also is a question about the MSRP some places list it as $199.98, Amazon is saying it is $229.98 Still a good deal regardless.

That's a great deal relative to MSRP, but I guess (for me) that set is just waaaaay overpriced. Even at 57% off, I'm unable to pull the trigger.
Maybe when they re-release it in a cheaper, smaller, non-limited package without all of the toys and do-dads. (Which I assume they'll do at some point.)

I got my order in. I liked this show when I was a kid, I hope it holds up.

Agreed, totally over-priced. I remember looking at the amazon listing for this set about a month ago. Half of the 'reviews' were really just comments about how the publisher is abusing the show's cult status and trying to squeeze every drop of blood out of the people who love the show. And that's when Amazon's price was in the ~$120 range.

Ordered mine. When it was released, I told myself that if it could hit around ~$100, I would pick it up. Wasn't expecting this to hit so low so soon.

Why, why, why did I have to check the bargains thread today?
Why couldn't I be content with the dozens(?) of unwatched DVDs waiting for me? Why am I Irwin Allen's beeyotch?!?
Well, I have been pretty good about waiting for sale prices on the Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea sets...
but $100 for Land of the Giants Collector's Set ... that's an offer I can't refuse! ALREADY ORDERED!!
Thanks, DVDTalkers!

I have it in my cart, my am really struggling with whether to buy it or not. Like many of you, I have enough unwatched DVD to last my lifetime, but I'm also a sucker for special sets like this.
It would actually be a blind buy, but I loved Land of the Lost.
I'm pretty sure it will be available for like $40 one day in a non-limited edition, but do I wait for that or get this special packaging?

You convinced me. I'm now 99.99 poorer, but have 51 more hours of future entertainment heading my way. Plus cool toys! And wasn't there a comic book in the box too? Bonus!

Damn, why do they have to put this at the beginning of the month when people are just recovering from paying bills?

I actually ordered it- then started to think long and hard and 10 minutes later I went back in and cancelled the order. I saw the set the other day in BB and it looks wicked cool- but I agree that $99 is still overpriced because while I've always wanted to like it, everytime I've tried to watch it, it inevitably fails to engage me.
but man, did that packaging look cool...

Loved the show and ordered it shortly afterward.
Now I can toss all those crappy Sci-Fi Channel tapes!
