The Unit: Season 1; A good blind buy?

I saw The Unit S1 on sale and was just wondering if this was worth getting. Anyone seen this series?

It's a pretty good show from Shawn Ryan (The Sheild) and David Mamet. It's a little uneven at times, moreso in the 2nd season than the 1st. The cast is great, especially Dennis Haysbert.

The show divides its storylines between the Special Forces missions the men go out on, and the domestic drama of their home lives. A lot of time is spent on their wives, and if you're looking for a high-octane action show those storylines may not interest you. However, they're important from a character development perspective. The military storylines are usually excellent, and some of the action is really outstanding.

I enjoyed season 2 a little more than season 1, but it does serve as a good intro to Bob Brown (Scott Foley) and his family who is more or less the main character of the show. Season 2 had a little more action-themed episodes and toned down the domestic storylines.

Thanks for the info. Yeah, I'm not looking for something entirely action oriented, and wouldn't mind some really well-placed action sequences mixed with some drama to understand the characters as they develop.

Season 2 had some absolutely terrific episodes, including the one where the men are under siege in the supply depot. But it also had some abysmally bad episodes, like the one with the witch doctors. :shudder:

Ditto on the 2nd season. Season 1 is a good blind buy though, alot of places have it for around $20.00 now.
