"Anchorwoman" Episode 1, 8/22/2007

On Fox at 8:00 PM EDT. I suspect this is another failed pilot in summer burn-off, but at least it's not a repeat.
Anyone going to give it a try?
Spoiler:
Anchorwoman
Good Evening Tyler, I'm Lauren Jones/Are We Gonna Act All Newsy? (New) 8:00 PM, 1 hr
Wed 08/22/2007
Comedy/Reality/Other
TVPG, English, 2007

Debut: A swimsuit model takes up TV-anchor duties at a Texas CBS affiliate in this Fox reality-comedy hybrid. The cameras follow Lauren Jones, a news novice from L.A., as she covers events in conservative Tyler, Texas, and interacts with her new colleagues, some of whom are less than thrilled to be working with her. In the opener, she prepares for her first newscast. Says news director Dan Delgado: "Now we've all got to make sure that we get out of here with our journalistic credentials intact."
HDTV - presented in 720p (Dolby Digital)

This chick was on O'Reilly last night... they showed a clip and then he interviewed her.. she's not as dumb as she seems. She has a 4 yr degree from a design school and is willing to do whatever research she needs to do to make herself knowledgeable of the person/thing she's interviewing/reporting on. He asked her if she watched his earlier interview with the Navy Seal that was a lone survivor of an attack in Afghanistan and asked if she knew what and where certain things and places were and she said no.. but she would have done her research ahead of time to get up to speed.
Anyway.. I'm not planning on tuning in but I was somewhat impressed with her. I have a feeling that she will come off as an dimwit.. but from what I saw last night she doesn't seem to be as dumb as she looks.

i live in longview, which is about 40 minutes away and my fiancee is from tyler so i am over there often. the station that did this here, is IMO one of the worst stations i have ever seen. i did watch the last 15 minutes or so of this and it wasn't too bad. there were a couple of really funny moments.

I know this chick isnt dumb, but I got bored with watching about ten minutes of the show because everyone was complaining about her being a credible news anchor.

I saw the last 15 minutes of the show and at first I thought it was a joke. I did not know who she was unitl one of the local asked if she was " one of them Divas " I think she is bright and not a bimbo but she needs to take herself seriously, if she wants others to, and dress the part of a news person, but that may not help at that station because they have a weather dog.

LAUREN JONES' ANCHORWOMAN ALREADY AXED, ACCORDING TO SOURCE
by Mike Johnson @ 4:26:32 PM on 8/23/2007

According to a source associated with the FOX Network, the "reality" series starring former WWE Diva Lauren Jones has already been axed following last night's terribly rated debut and will be replaced by reruns of FOX comedy "Til Death."

Last night's debut garnered a 1.0 rating with 3 share among adults 18-49, with 2.7 million viewers overall. There were only four total episodes scheduled for the series' run.

Wow, that was fast. I kind of enjoyed last night's episode, but I admit I wondered where else they could go that wouldn't just be repeating the same scenarios over and over.

I lived in Lindale for about 10 years which is about 15 mins from Tyler (I hate tyler btw). I was hoping they would actually show more of how idiotic people are around there, but that one guy who couldn't pronounce anything was pretty good.

They are trying to make the one reporter look like a feminist bitch, it seems pretty scripted to me. I don't even really care about the show plot, I just wanted them to show more backwoods texans.

but damn cancelled already...that's pretty much what Tyler deserves

ANCHORWOMAN SINKS TO THE BOTTOM OF TV OBLIVION
by Mike Johnson @ 6:57:45 PM on 8/23/2007

As PWInsider.com broke this afternoon, FOX axed "Anchorwoman" starring Lauren Jones, who at one point was under a WWE deal this afternoon following last night's dreadful debut ratings. For those of you interested in seeing the remainder of the episodes, The Hollywood Reporter reported they will stream on FOX's website as well as MySpace.com. A FOX source told me this afternoon that he couldn't recall the last time the network killed a series this quickly but given it was only getting a four week window, they likely decided to cut bait now instead of chancing further ratings decline.

And yet they stuck with the similarly low-rated On the Lot all summer. I guess this show needed Spielberg as an exec producer.

`Anchorwoman' canceled after one airing

LOS ANGELES - Here's news that Fox's series "Anchorwoman" wouldn't want to deliver: It's been canceled after one low-rated airing.

The debut of the reality show about Lauren Jones' attempt to turn herself into a news anchor for a Texas TV station drew an estimated 2.7 million viewers Wednesday, according to preliminary figures from Nielsen Media Research.

That number is about a third of the viewership Fox attracted a week earlier with the finale of its popular "So You Think You Can Dance."

Jones was a Barker Beauty on "The Price Is Right," Miss New York and featured WWE Diva before the series put her into the newsroom of KYTX Channel 19 in Tyler, Texas.

Unaired episodes of "Anchorwoman" will be available on Fox's website through Fox on Demand, the network said Thursday.

Apparently, that "FOX source" doesn't have a very good memory - they cancelled a game show after 1 airing last November.

I think its hilarious that the show got axed after a single episode. I mean everyone knows that pilots are typically the lesser episodes of most shows, and also, what else do that have to air? Is a repeat of "Til Death" going to bring in that much more money than the future airing of this show, which they have already paid for?

Didn't Heather Graham's TV show get canceled after one show (on ABC)?
