Sorry no time to work on entering standings, pitching matchups, etc.
I do have enough time to say things are looking much better for the Cards today with a 2-out 2-run double in the 1st and throwing out the Cubs leadoff man in the bottom of the inning on the bases. A win today would give them a 4-2 road trip through Milwaukee and Chicago and a majority of the games left on the schedule at home.

Frickin' Ankiel! :grunt:
As of right now (middle of 7th inning of the game in progress), Ankiel is batting:
10 for 31 (.323) with 4 HRs and 7 RBIs.
Not bad for a pitcher.

Impressive to note that his double and homer today both came off left handed pitchers.

Good that they scored all those runs. Hudson isn't pitching particularly well tonight.

4 HRs and 10 RBIs in 2 days. 9 HRs and 25 RBIs in 18 games since he arrived on August 1st. That's insane.
Hudson may escape the Wickman blown-save yet again.

Yep, 9 HRs in 18 games since joining Atlanta for Tex.
Perhaps more exciting is Tim Hudson, who is 9-0 over his last 11 starts. He became the first NL pitcher to hit 15 wins this season. I know there's some very good pitchers in the NL this year (*glares at Arizona*), but he's kinda quietly putting together a Cy Young caliber year.

Wow - Yanks get out of it thanks to good defense and a check-swing strike out. Looks like they're going to win this one.
ETA - Okay I was wrong. Angels win in 10.

First rule of MLB threads in Sports talk...Never, ever, ever, ever declare your team a winner. Or even allude to them being the winner.
Second...Never state the current score in the game (even if your team's ahead).
You're a Senior Member, Nabalab. You should know this. -ohbfrank-:p
Stupid halos. Don't they know we're not their competition (at this moment, anyway). -ohbfrank-

Sorry Rogue - based on the way the Yankees have been playing as of late (read - GOOD), I was pretty sure they'd come out on top. Next time I think that I'll just say that to myself instead of typing it :p

Best pic I've seen in a major newspaper's site in awhile:
why the hell did they put henn in the game.... gosh....
I guess with 7-8-9 hitters coming up it didn't seem like a terrible decision. But I would have put Villone in that inning. He's nothing great but he would have been a better bet than Henn. Ramierez wouldn't have been a bad choice either.
Actually, if we're talking in hypothetics I would have put Chamberlain in and not thought twice about it. I can understand not overusing him but if they put him in for an inning or two last night that would have been far from abuse.
Anyway, Mussina vs. Escobar tonight. Moose has been so inconsistent but if we ever needed a good outing from him it would be tonight.

Thank god they didn't put him in...or else we would've been subjected to another "The Joba Rules" story by Michael K.

Hmmm. Do I start hoping the Mets beat up on the Padres and Dodgers and hope for the wildcard OR do I keep cheering the Mets to lose for a chance at the division?
I think I'll hold off on that decision until the Phils-Mets series next week.
