My sister, who I tend to have common taste with, commented that Stardust was cute, but wasn't nearly as good as it could have been, so it seems I'll be waiting for video on that one. Death at a Funeral also opened in limited release, will hopefully be seeing that and Superbad this weekend.

Invasion bombed, I expected it to have an "ok" opening of at least double what it's making.

Sweet news for Superbad. Invasion looks to be doing way worse than I thought it would. RH3 looked like shit, so that large drop isn't much of a surprise.

rush hour 3 wasnt that bad. honestly all 3 are average movies. part 3 is just like the first 2 so i wouldnt say its not good.

i am also suprized about invasion, but isnt this like the 4th or so remake of this movie?

The problem is probably that this remake is aimed at audiences 30+ who are more than likely familiar with the original. If this had Jessica Biel in it and was marketed by LGF, it would've done well. It would've been terrible, but would've done well.

i actually thought "Superbad" would do better. this had such great buzz and so far great reviews that i thought it would have more titanic #'s. don't get me wrong approx. $40 mil is great, but for some reason i thought it would be higher considering the demographic.

it did 33% more than knocked up did on it's opening night. to me, that's pretty impressive, especially if word of mouth is good. It's still an R-Rated comedy, which will do incredibly well if it has the same legs as knocked up.

Invasion hopefully ends the remake of this story.
There has been a movie of this story beginning in the 50's and then 70's and 90's.

Yeah Knocked Up did $30.8 million opening weekend on a similar number of screens. 2900 screens is a decent opening, but doesn't compare to Harry Potter, Shrek, Pirates, etc of 4200 or so. So I'm not even sure it would be physically possible to have mega blockbuster numbers on the first weekend...

Well it doesn’t really matter to me personally if Superbad is #1 at the Box Office because I have no interest in seeing it. I’ve never cared for the High School atmosphere & even through I’m glad Seth Rogen is having a successful career; his movies just aren’t my cup of tea. I’ve never been a fan of Judd Apatow’s work but he seems like a nice enough guy.

I’m glad The Simpsons: Movie is still taking in the dough at the Box Office. Invasion looks dull & boring from the previews & reviews I’ve seen & I also hope this is the last we see of this story on film.

Rush Hour 3 will be played too death on TBS.

There was a Saturday drop for Superbad which doesn't bode particularly well for legs, but fwiw, I thought the movie was fantastic.

Pretty much every movie these days has a Saturday drop on its opening weekend. I wouldn't read much into it.

That really isn't true at all. However, Superbad had midnight showings, my local theater didn't have that for Knocked Up, so that makes a Saturday drop more acceptable.

Apparently Superbad's weekend haul was substantially (comparatively) higher than predicted, scoring $32.8m instead of $31.2 suggesting a $10.1m Sunday, which would be a fantastic drop ($300k) for an opening Saturday to Sunday.

The fact there were Midnight showings made the friday gross a little uneven, but otherwise this flick could possibly match Knocked Ups $148m.

Edit: Wrong again, it made $33,052,411, nearly $2m more than initially estimated. It had a very strong Sunday (down only 1.7% from Saturday).
