I got one. The only way to play Pokemon is portable. For some reason that seems more acceptable.

Sorry for the noob question. My daughter is really into Pokemon, whereas I am not. If she already owns Diamond, is there any reason to pick up Pearl?

I wouldnt think so, as your daughter probably trades with others so no need to pick it up.
