Top Gear - "Episode 1" - 08/20/07
According to various sources BBCA will beging airing "full" Top Gear episodes in one week!!
Apparently they'll be starting with Series 8 (I think rumor), which could work out well. That would give them roughly 12 weeks, then allow them to air Series 9 and flow into 10 (which apparently starts in Octorber in the UK!! )

This is one of the best shows I have ever seen. Even if I've seen them all before I'll definitely be watching these again! I've even got the GF and fam hooked!

Looks like back-to-back!
8pm: In the Season 8 opener, they guys transform a van into a convertible. Also: previous guests stop by to test out the Chevrolet Lacetti.
9pm: Chef Gordon Ramsay tests his driving skills on the racetrack; Jeremy test-drives a Jaguar; the guys host a radio show.

Could access the link from my previous location. Some bits from the the article!
One for the most successful and interesting phenomenons on UK television, Top Gear defies genre. Part factual and part entertainment, the Emmy-winning car show doesn't fit into any standard category. As well as test drives and car trials on location, Top Gear features a live studio audience, star guests, and celebrities driving decidedly non-celebrity cars. Famous names appearing this season include actors Ewan McGregor, Ray Winstone, and Sir Michael Gambon as well as celebrity chefs Gordon Ramsay and Jamie Oliver.

1) You can't watch them again.
2) You can't encourage new viewers to watch since you know how great a show it is.

Good to have this thread, even if many of us have already seen the episodes. A lot of people picked up on "Doctor Who" and "Life on Mars", among other shows, when they were shown on US television.
For those who watched the episodes on BBC America, were they cut for ads? I've seen a few TG episodes on Discovery Channel (I think) and they cut out a good amount for ads, which was annoying.

And have them DVD quality. The Polar Special from a month ago was fantastic. I thought I was watching the HD broadcast but it was only 480p.

To (I only watch 8x01 so far) the edits/cuts were obvious. I can't say with any certainty everything that was cut, you could tell there were abrupt changes. I do know they cut some of the Van challenge segments short so they could get the ending in. The forced edits will be worse on some episodes v others.

S10 is the brand new series that starts on the 7th, but on BBC1...so not sure on how long until BBCA would see that.

I'm really enjoying this show. Thanks for the heads up from this thread, as I would probably have never watched it.
Since BBCA is on s7 or s8, does anyone know if they're going to keep running the show into series 10? BBCA has had shows before that had further seasons, but still only ran a single season at a time. These were dramatic shows, but still. I certainly hope they keep going. Hell, I wouldn't mind if they started to show some of the even older top Gears.

Oh yes!
Wet Wet Wet
Top Gear does not give up easily. Unless it's too difficult, then sometimes we do. But when it comes to building amphibious cars we weren't going to be beaten.
Our previous attempt ended in ignominy, near drowning and the feeble sight of James's rubbish water-tortoise Herald technically crossing the line first, but that wasn't going to put us off.
So, each presenter had to build a refined version of their original aquatic masterpiece and then embark on one of our most ambitious challenges yet. If we tell you that it begins in Dover, you might get a sense of how big this is...
Check back every day this week for more previews and video. The new series starts on Sunday October 7 at 8pm on BBC Two.

Very nice! Last series definitely had some good segments/episodes.
I especially liked:
-- The Best Road
-- London Race
-- 24 Hour Race
I enjoyed the DBS segment as well.
