Cronos - Guillermo Del Toro

This appears to be Out-of-Print ...and very expensive. Is there a new release on the horizon?

My local Best Buy has this DVD packaged in a special bundle with Pan's Labyrinth.

I remember reading somewhere (sorry, can't remember where), where Guillermo said he is working on a Cronos:SE.

From blu-ray.com:

Del Toro Talks Cronos Blu-ray
Posted November 12, 2008 08:24 AM by Josh Dreuth

At a press event for the Blu-ray and DVD release of his latest film 'Hellboy II: The Golden Army', director Guillermo del Toro commented that Lionsgate will soon be announcing a "special Blu-ray edition" of his film 'Cronos'. He commented, "I think I want to revisit, re-time, restructure the sound for the Blu-ray experience in a big way."

When asked if extras would just be ported from the previous DVD release or if more work was being done, he commented, "We're going to do, basically, the most exhausting extras that can ever be put together. There are many editions around the world with different extras, but there is no definitive edition."

Expect an official announcement from the studio soon.

Nifty -- it's about time. That R1 has been out of print for way too long.

Yay. They should call it the "Lick the Floor edition".

A release date for "The Devil's Backbone" on Blu-ray would most likely make me cum.

Great news about the Blu-Ray release.

I'll probably pick that up but hold onto my R1 for memories sake

I imagine that Lionsgate will also release the film on DVD. There is no reason not to do that.

Hope it works out. Disney is sitting on a goldmine whether they know it or not.
There are tons of potential "Special Editions and Directors Cuts" under various "Studios" that they own the rights to. Films like Mimic, Halloween 6,
The Crow City of Angels, Judge Dredd Etc. Fans have been begging for new cuts of these films for years.
