I have had 2 REI packs similar to this one (the only two backpacks I've owned since 5th grade). I paid $50+ for those two...and this one is their newest model. Only $28 + shipping or if you have an REI store you can pick it up for free. You might scoff at the cost, like my parents did when I asked for the 1st one. But the 1st one lasted me until the middle years of HS until I had to replace it (because I lost it). It lasts forever, has a ton of space in it and is totally worth ever penny.
