DVD Talk review of 'Highlander: The Search for Vengeance'
I read Todd Douglass Jr.'s DVD review of Highlander: The Search for Vengeance at http://www.dvdtalk.com/reviews/read.php?ID=28455 and...
I suppose it's on the mark from a Highlander fan's perspective.
I agree that Colin was rather wooden, which put me off for a lot of the film. I was very intrigued when he first met the new "her" and had his flashback since she used the same words.
All-in-all something felt missing. And I don't think it was the inclusion of the spirit guide. While interesting, that was probably the least Highlanderish part.
Animation was okay, but I'm not a big Anime fan so I can't really speak much to that.

I kinda think pretty low of the Highlander series. Always thought it had a great premise that never saw it's full potential.
So I do believe that this Anime incarnation is the best Highlander film. However, since the script was handled by the same group of people that do the Highlander stuff it is plagued with bad writing. Also, it's pretty sad to experiance how bad the voice acting was in this. Which is all the more ironic when you realize that no voice director is credited anywhere for it nor are there any featurettes that talk to the people who did the voices.

I enjoyed the film, finally having something decent 'birthed' in the Highlander universe next to the original movie. The only thing that bothered me voice acting wise was the Spirit Guide's voice. He sounded like all older men sound in English dubs. Granted that this was made with the English language in mind, they could have shook it up a little. Colin's voice could been more charismatic, but on the whole I could over look this. Cracking film.
