I still have a few of those and I would hope that there's more expanded features than what was on the Movie Money disc.

But to address your True / False question directly: the answer is partially True.
Last but not least is a series of Webisodes (12 clips, 38:21), which originally debuted online and partially made it to Best Buy's promotional DVD. The slimmer ones were the third generation limited extended edition with the deleted footage woven back in via seamless branching.

I am pretty confident that the LOTR sets are NOT the four disc set special editions. I was in walmart today and they have the three sets of movies in extended edition packaging that looks almost identical to the 4-disc set packaging (does not have any picture on the front like the previously released 2-disc extended edtions). It said extended edition, and these were 2-disc sets and they had them for 14.99 each....

Does anyone remember if The Departed steelbook was in the weekly sale ad? I don't remember it being there, but a lot of BB's still had the steelbook in stock on release day. Like I said, I don't remember it being in there, so there still may be a chance for the steelbook. If it was in there, it ain't looking too great that we'll get it.
Hopefully we'll see if Targets 3-disc is a good one.

It was an LE. One BB near me still has a couple left, so you SHOULD be fine. But 300 is more popular than V was, so it may be a different scenario.

Yes.... the Departed Steelbook was in the Best Buy ad and as such I put it in my weekly thread:
BUT it was the first high profile release (save Dune) to receive such packaging. Joe Sixpack didn't know what to think until he saw it and once he did, they started flying off the shelves.
Best Buy has this time decided to go with the helmet although I believe it's being released in Spain in a steelbook casing.

I may pick up two because tons of the V sets were going on ebay for about $60 bucks a pop.
The V set was well worth it. It's pretty bad ass. I'm sure this will be of similar quality.

it's actually not a free extra. it's packaged together in a box with the 2-disc dvd. so you have to buy the entire package. no helmet with the hd-dvd version unfortunately.

question about 300 DVD set:
The flyer stated "available Tuesday". Does it mean that it won't be available on Sunday? I'm new to releases on Tuesday even if the flyer is on Sunday's advertisement. I hate to wait in line for nothing to find out they don't have it until Tuesday.
All new releases come out on Tuesdays. Everywhere. Has always been that way.

And remember, buy it at the full highest price first. And then go to customer service with the ad, that way you get an extra 10% of the difference.

I went to BB yesterday to get the Bourne set w/ the free ticket but they were sold out (after I had already bought and opened it, they refunded me, though- long story). Anyway, it's in the ad again so what are the chances they got any in? Do they get deliveries on a Saturday night? Or maybe they had some in the back for this week's ad?

My local Best Buy had a new end cap with about 20-25 Bourne sets with the yellow sticker.
They also had an end cap up for the Rush Hour ticket dvds, but no tickets!
they said they come out on tuesday " Even though we already have them ".
I don't understand the Tuesday release of tickets, the sale started TODAY! Why bother putting out the signs!

wow i didn't even know about this. If this was a route to take, how does the situation with reward zone points go? will they calculate based on the original purchase amount, and will they adjust the points after a refund is given?

Stopped by this afternoon and they had several with the ticket, so I immediately grabbed it. Already own the original Bourne 1 and 2 but with the free ticket I'm basically only paying about $4.24 for the extra disc (and the Identity disc has other features the DTS doesn't).

I spent an hour in Best Buy and had 2 employees brush me off before I found a third that took the time to help. After a half an hour looking through the store and the warehouse, he came up empty.
I did buy one of the titles, with the intention of returning it (and possibly repurchasing it) once I find a store with the Movie Money.

I am pretty confident that the LOTR sets are NOT the four disc set special editions. I was in walmart today and they have the three sets of movies in extended edition packaging that looks almost identical to the 4-disc set packaging (does not have any picture on the front like the previously released 2-disc extended edtions). It said extended edition, and these were 2-disc sets and they had them for 14.99 each....
i couldn't be happier that i was wrong and speedy was right !!!
had a great haul at best buy today:
PM CCs 3 LOTR EE sets for 8.99 each
PM CCs B1G1 on 4 xbox live 1600 points cards for 39.98
got bourne set for 9.99
two movies, movie cash, three 4-disc sets and 4 points cards for under $77.....crazy !!!
only disappointment was they didn't have the rush hour movie cash. said they will have it in tuesday morning....

I actually hope that they are the newer 2 disc editions. I have the old 2 discers and the 4 discers, but have been waiting for a good price on the newest 2 disc triple dip.

Apparently the MSRP for them is now $19.99, so that's part of the reason they can afford it. I was surprised, I thought they were still $30 or so.

It's a good thing there was no actual line, and you just squeeze in wherever you could fit, because they only had 12, and people sprinted to the display, nearly knocking it over. We grabbed the very last copy.
I overheard a BB employee saying it was one of the most limited exclusives they ever had, and that they might not be getting any more back in (don't know how true that is).
One guy was actually taking the actual display apart to see if there was one hidden somewhere...

As with any limited print run of exclusives, what they have on-hand and on the floor is it, i.e. there are never any restocks.
There was a small crowd at my location as well (~20 people waiting for the store to open), all guys and all of them darting to the "300" display when the sliding doors opened; when I left ~10:30, I figured they had at least a dozen copies with the replica helmet still on the shelves. I can't speak for other locations, but my guess is that this B&M store has roughly the same number of copies with the helmet as those with the mask in the "V For Vendetta" set. All I need now is the Comic Con exclusive...... -pray-

Got mine! There were approx 20-30 Helmet sets in stock at opening, only one damaged one was left 5 minutes later. Not sure how it got damaged. Probably some idiots fighting over a toy helmet.
I also picked up the HD version as well as The Doors 15th anniversary for $6.99. :)

so funny...some worker said the helmet was in the back..and a swarm of bees (people) flew over there, but a good portion was sitting in the front display. Several people grabbed 2-3 of them...and I'm sure it's all gone by now. Since it's limited, i'm sure it will be gone by the end of the day...and the helmet is HEAVY...much better than the Comic Con. I prefer this one instead of the Comic Con.

I ordered one at noon for in store pickup. Drove to the store and saw there were still plenty in the display. Also saw plenty of the Bourne movie packs with the movie cash. I'm glad nobody in my area reads this forum. ;)
Also ended up getting the Iron Man DVD since it was down to $6.99 now and Braveheart for $5 and used my Mastercard and a $5 RZ coupon, and got some other stuff but still ended up spending almost enough to get me $10 according to their summer promotion, and August hasn't even started yet.

Got to my BB at about 10:30 and couldn't believe the number of people that were walking around with 300 discs. There must have been about 20 people in line and all 20 seemed to have the movie.
I picked up the helmet. Wasn't planning on it but was impressed by how sturdy it was. Only two left on the floor. I had one in hand and a few people asked me where I found it. Pretty crazy.
Picked up the 1-disc for my gf for a dollar less at CC and got their exclusive cards as well. Kept those and put them in the helmet box.

How does the 300 ComicCon exclusive compare to the Best Buy exclusive? Is the Immortals mask heavy and come on a stand like the Best Buy's helmet version? I'm debating on picking the ComicCon version up if the quality is good.
really... that gives me more hope for the one I ordered for in-store and the one I ordered shipped to my house. great!

Just got email pick up confirmation for instore pick-up of 300 with the collectible helmet!
Several stores in my area have them instock online again.
I'll be going over in a couple of hours on my lunch to pick it up.
Sweet, they are back in stock at several places!

Ordered it online and got a confirmation on Tuesday. Went to the store yesterday and they told me it was a mistake and it was out of stock. The supervisor said the system updated really slow. I asked "what's the point of verifying it and sending me the email that it's ready to be picked up?". He said it's automated and sends it automatically after a certain amount of hours. I told him that his logic didn't make sense and the verification process would have been pointless. He keep insisting it was the system's fault. I asked for the general manager but he was already gone. I'll give him a call tomorrow and see what the deal is.
I talked to a corporate customer rep today and she told me that stores has to get the item first and then send me a notification email. If they don't have it, I would have gotten an email stating it's out of stock. She's giving me a $25 gift card for the fiasco and apologized for the lie the supervisor told me. I still want to hear what his gm will say regarding this matter.

Went back to BestBuy yesterday for Hot Fuzz and Shaun of the Dead. Tuesday night Shaun of the Dead was out of stock. Checked availability yesterday and it said it was available at my 2 local stores. Went to get it and now Hot Fuzz was gone. Walked through all the aisles and found one copy in the westerns section, but it was full screen. Bought it anyway will swap later when ws is back in stock, but I'm happy I got the 2 for 20.

What's hilarious about this is that they used the picture of the HDDVD version of the movie and photoshopped out the "HD" part. Not only that, they replaced the original front caption of "HD DVD AND DVD COMBO FORMAT" with "TWO DISC SPECIAL EDITION."
WHY WOULD THEY DO THIS?

I guess I will see when I pick it up tomorrow if they actually have it or not. Did they get more in stock or what? That's odd that they did. I remember I really really wanted that 3D Lenticular Cars poster and that never was restocked.
I really think CC has better customer service. Don't they have a 24 minute or $24 guarantee?

That is a crap pic, but might be a pretty good deal actually.

Personlly, I like the Best Buy much better than the cheap looking Comic Con. And no, the Comic Con does not have a stand at all. The Best Buy is HEAVY for it's size..and it looks good with the 300 logo on the stands...great display on the DVD shelf.
