This game comes out in a week and I wanted to see if there was any interest in doing a DVDTalk tourney. Here’s what I had in mind. Any and all suggestions are welcome:

Proposed Structure
1. Double elimination tournament, random pairings, North American region
2. Sign-ups begin Monday, July 30 and last one week
3. Tourney begins Monday, August 6. You have one week to coordinate a game with your opponent and report the results. Please use the site’s PM feature to work out a time you both can play. Each player only plays one tourney game a week.
4. No cheats allowed
5. Single player only
6. Game time limit TBD (I don’t know what the options are on this)
7. Arena rules TBD (I’m not sure how we want to approach this…random arena, one arena each week?)

Let me know if you’d be interested, and if enough people want to do this I’ll start a sign-up thread next week.

Should we wait a little longer so we can adjust to the game? I can't play that much during a week. Still, I would definitely be up for it.

Maybe I didn't work something correctly, but each player would be playing only one tourney game a week.

Well you said the game comes out in a week. And the tournament starts one week after correct? So the first game would only give people a week to practice. However, since it's double elimination it's probably OK because you'll have another whole week before your next game. Nevermind, nothing to see here, carry on.

Friend codes specific to the game. Also, they are at Mii level rather than Wii level (so different people in your household can maintain separate records).

That's my understanding. I suppose you'd just post your FC in the sign-up thread that Groucho starts. He'll then update the first post with the list of participants. Eventually the pairings will be done and you can either add just your opponent from that list or everyone (cuz why not!?) and then go from there.

There does seem to be some interest, so probably what I'll do is post a friends code / tourney thread starting next week. People can share their friend codes and/or sign up for the tourney. Once we get enough sign-ups we'll set up the brackets, etc.

The Wii FC != Strikers FC, Kurrpt. So it won't do any good to get the code before you get the game.

You won't know it until you have the game -- it's not the same as your Wii code.

i got the game off my manager-friend for 30 bucks. He called me last night to say he has the game in-hand, but to come into his store to pick it up today.

apparently Nintendo sent him another free game. he said he would sell it to me for the same price he would get in credit at his own store.

he also hooked me up with one of those limited edition bioshock faceplates that look amazing.
