One Hit Album Wonders (In your opinion)

Any albums out there by bands that have a decent-size discography where you only really like one album? Social Distortion, for example, only have one album I can listen to all the way through. The have other good songs here and there, but only one album I like.

My one hit album wonders:

Beastie Boys - Licensed to Ill
Bon Jovi - Slippery When Wet (Half great - half not so good)
Mr Bungle - S/T
Social Distortion - White Light, White Heat, White Trash
Twisted Sister - Stay Hungry

Wow, that would be the complete opposite of my opinion. I think that's their worst album, and the only one I can't listen too all the way through. Different Strokes for Different folks I guess.

My one hit wonder album would be Nas- Illmatic. All his follow up albums (like 6 of them) have been terrible.

Totally disagree with Interpol, Social Distortion and the Beasties. Witholding judgment on PB+J (wow, never realized that was a joke) until they do another album. Also, Mr. Bungle is just another Patton side project, lots of his other side projects are good too.

Lots of bands release a great debut and then never live up their promise:
Moby Grape
Aztec Camera
Boston
Lloyd Cole
Dead Boys
...etc

Others have a bunch of good work but only really hit a home run once:
The Zombies (high point: Odyssey and Oracle)
Television (high point: Marquee Moon)
...etc

Pearl Jam - Ten (although, to be fair, I've only heard like their first four albums)

Do greatest hits albums count?

Doobie Brothers. All the early albums have 2 or 3 songs I like but Captain and Me is the only one I like beginning to end.

Robin Trower. Bridge Of Sighs is one of the best albums ever. Never been able to get into the others.

Another is Roxy Music. I like Avalon but don't care for the others at all.

Edie Brickell & New Bohemians

Although it wasn't really my cup of tea, their debut mainstream album was a hit, but they dropped off the radar after that.

Not that I ever listened to them, but Hootie & The Blowfish and Nickelback instantly sprang to mind.

And I completely disagree that Guns N Roses only had one good album.

I'd have to say Whitesnake - Whitesnake.

They had a bunch of work before, and some solid albums after.....but none compared in my mind to their self titled disc

Pearl Jam - "Vitalogy"

I racked my brain and that's all I could come up with.

Velvet Underground: I love "V.U. and Nico", but can't stand the band's subsequent work.

at Roxy Music and Velvet Underground in this thread.

Roxy Music has at least 5 albums better than "Avalon".

Velvet Underground, I mean, come on. Really?

Other than "Abbey Road," I've never felt the Beatles' other albums were all that great.

"Moby - Play"
Huh? This album is a joke compared to the rest of his catalog.

"Beastie Boys - Licenced To Ill"
I prefer every other album of theirs over this. Simply the weakest link in an otherwise stellar lineup of releases. Dated and stale compared to the rest...
