Movie review threads ~ Can we eliminate non-review related posts?

I was looking at the Transformers thread, and others, and it seems like there are too many posts that are not reviews or comments about reviews.

For example, on the first page of the Transformers thread there is "can't wait"..."I hate Bay"..."I haven't seen this yet"..."I'm seeing it tomorrow, I'll make a new post then"...

They're just really annoying to have to skip through. The review threads should be about actual reviews or comments about reviews.

Makes sense.

Although, to be honest, you could make a similar point about many other threads. There's always the posts that are not really needed and you have to 'pick through' them to find things you're looking for.

I typically don't like NatrlBornThrllr's posts, but I'll give this one a chance.

Thats true. But for the big movies coming out there is pre-release thread going as well so people can post their "I can't wait" posts in there.

If this rule was applied to the LOST threads, they'd be only 13 posts long.

^^^ That about sums it up. Really, does it bug you that much to scroll down with the mouse? I don't think it's the end of the world or anything. Just sayin' thats all.

Will you practice what you preach 7Keys?

Every one of your posts in the FG movie thread is a threadcrap.

All I'm saying is that if we as a forum want to minimize such OT postings in these types of threads we all need to start at home and set the example.

Ehhh... Doesn't bother me. I think big movies should always have two threads. One for up-and-coming rumors, trailers, etc. The other for reviews & discussion. Nothing I hate more than seeing them combined and having to go through 5 pages before people have actually seen the movie.

Obviously a lot of movies don't need this, but big ones do.

My point is its a review thread and should be about reviews. For big movies there is usually a pre-release thread going where people can post their "I haven't seen this movie yet, but I will tomorrow" type of posts. And yes, it bothers me or I wouldn't have started a thread about it.

1) I don't consider my posts a threadcrap. More than half of the people in thread are ripping on Family Guy. The OP in that thread simply posted a story about McFarlane wanting to do a movie. What followed was responses about whether or not people want to see the movie be made. My post where relevant to the topic.

2) That was not a review thread it was about the possibility of a movie being made. No different than someone in the Sarah Connor Chronicle thead saying, "Ugh, this looks bad."

I agree with that...I really never understood tacking on reviews on a thread that was started to discuss the movie being made/coming out in the future. Those threads should at least be closed and the new discussion focused on the new reviews thread.

And why just have a reviews thread? Call it a reviews/discussion thread and that solves the issue there. We certainly don't need two new threads for new movies...one to give reviews and one to discuss other aspects of it.
