He was answering your question. That is the song in the clip you linked.

Here is a related question - Is the commercial making references to some 80s movie, or is it just random stuff. The scenes seem too specific to not be based on something.

I have to admit it's a cool song. One I must have missed in the 80's. But it seems totally out of place in that commercial. Weird choice.

The songs about a momentous event in your life and the M&M ad campaign is about finding your favorite color M&M. Kind of stretching the concept.

lyrics:

Well... you didn't wake up this morning
Because you didn't go to bed
You were watching the whites of your eyes
Turn red
The calendar, on your wall, is ticking the days off
The calendar on your wall is ticking
the days off
You've been reading some old letters
You smile and think how much you've changed
All the money in the world
Couldn't bring back those days.
You pull back the curtains, and the sun burns into your eyes,
You watch a plane flying across a clear blue sky.
THIS IS THE DAY -- Your life will surely change.
THIS IS THE DAY -- Your life will surely change.
You could've done anything -- if you'd wanted
And all your friends and family think that you're lucky.
But the side of you they'll never see
Is when you're left alone with the memories
That hold your life together like Glue

~

I don't get the connection either.

The M&M people were cute.... until they got hair. Now they're just creepy.

The connection is no stranger than Target's awkward "Hello ... Good Buy". Ouch.

You don't like hair on your M&Ms?

Anyone who's ever eaten M&M's (especially the peanut ones) can attest that it is indeed a life-changing event.
