Closed escort thread?
gkleinman, why did you close that thread? I'm just curious.
Unless I'm mistaken, escorts are perfectly legal in Las Vegas.
Hell, just about everything is legal in Vegas.

Not so much recently, but I know I've seen some "ladies of the night" walking around Vegas in years past.
I know places like the Bunny Ranch are out in the sticks but I guess I always thought prostitution was legal in the city even though you'd be hard pressed to find any "action" on the strip.

Prostitution is illegal in Clark County... which is home to Las Vegas. I think the rest of the state is okay except for parts of Reno.
Just because you saw streetwalkers walking the street doesn't mean it's legal.
Also this will probably get moved to Feedback.

Oh, and you can see crack dealers walking around in Vegas, too, but it doesn't mean crack is legal.

No, it's not.
"Ladies of the night" walking around aren't legal anywhere in Nevada. In most counties, brothels are legal. Street walkers are not.

I was curious why he closed the thread because he said he closed it because it was talking about illegal activities. I was under the impression that prostitution was, in fact, legal in Las Vegas. Evidently I was wrong. Just looking for some clarification is all.

Nevada state law used to allow the licensing of brothels for any county with a population under 400,000 (obviously not Clark County, i.e. Las Vegas). Recently, other counties have outlawed it as well. The general concept of prostitution in Nevada is that it can be licensed legally in places where there aren't a lot of people.
Of course, escort services for companionship aren't illegal at all, but it's a fine enough line that it's obvious why the thread was closed (in addition to his clear post explaining his reason).

I didn't mean to cause any problems. I honestly thought that prostitution was actually legal in Vegas even though it wasn't well thought of. Sort of like how shooting off fireworks is technically legal in Wisconsin but it's not something you want to do on a regular basis because the police don't really like people doing it. Learn something new everyday I guess.
