One that will sell for less than $400 at newegg.com?
I'm looking for one with hdmi, widescreen, and at least over 23 inches.
I've seen many there and read reviews but i still want to get a general opinion from this forum.
This will be primarily used for my PS3, Wii, and watching dvds. and it will go in my room and my room is pretty damn small so i dont want to get anything THAT big but a great hdtv none the less.

23" is small even for a small bedroom. The way prices have come down you should easily be able to get a 27" LCD and possibly with carefully shopping 32". Seriously, if you bedroom is standard size, say around 10X10, 23" is to small. Heck most people don't look at computer monitors at less then 19" any more.
I picked up an Olivia 27" LCD HD for around $350 last thanksgiving. The prices are around that now.

Thanks for thr response.
is there anything wrong with getting recertified hdtvs from newegg?
ive seen a couple of some westinghouse and olevia's at 26 inches or bigger and under 400 but recertified.
im afraid it will come with dead pixels

Why do you only want to buy from newegg? Have a credit or something?

well its the only place really that people have been recommedning me to go to.
plus, i've bought stuff from there before and i know theyre very reliable.
anyways, ive come to a conclusion. i want to get either one of these:
i like the sceptre one because its a full 5 inches bigger but ive heard better stuff about Olevia.
any advice?

I think that is the Olevia that I have. Does it have a built in HD tuner? That seems a little high of a price thought...
I'd check over at FW or SD to find a better deal. That is standard price.
The Olevia is bright and sharp. Poor black levels, but kind of expected.

you said you have that same Olevia hdtv.
how long have you had it and what are the main problems with it?

I thought I posted?? Weird.
Anyway, yea I have the Olevia and it does just fine. No problems at all. The size/weight of the unit puts it right at the upper edge of the small compact wall mounts. I got one of those first (it was a cheap one) and it didn't work out. So I got the more standard one and it works great.
The unit is very, very bright. This was a must for me. I put this in my bar with 4 skylights, 2 floor to ceiling windows and a door that is mainly glass. The Olevia is plenty bright, even during the day (I have it mounted in an upper corner or the room).
I use minly OTA for local HD. The tuner had no trouble picking up local channels in HD. Yesterday I added a DVD player so we could listen to music, watch movies. in there as well. I just used S-video, and still has a nice sharp picture.
The unit has a decent amount of user controls for fine tunning. They are fairly easy to get to.
The unit is very bright (as mentioned) and very sharp. Does not have a edgy digital look to it. However, it has very poor black levels. This is to be expected from an LCD in this price range. For my usage, it really is not an issue.
Here is a pic. I use a tilting swing out arm mount. I have the tilt locked, but the swing out is balanced so to speek so I can move it at will depending on where folks are sitting. Works well.
Thanks a lot. That justifies my purchase of this even more.
As far as it not having deep black, not really a problem for me as that's what I would expect too from a budget HDTV.

If you haven't already bought this, try Microcenter.com. They have 32" LCDs for $500. I got my Spectre for $500 and it's a great LCD with ATSC and QAM.
