Okay, I had to research past the link just to figure out what the "offensive" word was. Even if 'spastic' is an offensive term to call somebody, I don't see how the usage above would be offensive.

Yeah, apparently "spastic" is an offensive word, particularly in the UK. Apparently there was a DS game (one of the Brain Age knockoffs) that was also recalled for the use of that word. I think it has a negative connotation having to do with the handicapped. I don't think it has quite the same impact here in the U.S.
