yet I'm confused what AWG means should I buy a lower AWG number cable but higher priced or does it not matter?
edit ok I see that it's wire gauge but my question is Is 24 gauge that much better than 26 or 28?

the lower the number, the thicker it is (I believe)

if the run is shorter than 20' it doesnt matter.
hdmi sends a digital signal so if it can send a series of 1s and 0s any gauge will do just fine.

I'd probably say 15', if you are talking about good wires like Monoprice sells. The thickness does matter, even for digital. Digital isn't magic. Cheap wires can still not work.
