Stargate SG-1: Complete Series OCT 9th, Including 4 Bonus Discs.

Well, tvshowsondvd is reporting that the complete set of SG-1 will be released on Oct. 9th with a retail of 299.98. It will be a 50 dvd set including 4 never released bonus discs (pretty annoying for those of us who already purchased the individual seasons, but seems par for the course these days)

These complete series sets are making me afraid to buy tv on dvd sets. This is the first show that I already have that's getting one. I can sell my others to DVD Planet and get $135, and this set should be around $175 during DDD fall sale.

I suppose I could hold off on buying the last five seasons, and hope this set drops below the total price for the individual sets.

At least this is a warning to not buy Atlantis sets.

First preorder is up for $233.65 at dvdpacific:

That's a pretty good deal if you don't have any of the sets yet.

That's not bad. About $23.50 a set, $1.08 an episode.

All I need is season 10 though. They really should have a mail in deal for anyone who buys season 10 for the bonus 4 discs.

Yeah, I have 10 on preorder already. I wish we could get the discs and packaging so I could save a lot of space, but I doubt that that's going to happen.

One of the extra disc may contain the special that was free on iTunes that talks about the entire SG arch over the 10 years. It may still be free on line, check it out. I've been getting the season sets from the beginning so I only have seasons 8 and 9 in thin cases, the rest are in the 5 disc boxs. I hate when they do that to me. Same with X-file, only season 9 in thin case.

I've got 1-9 (bought for $18 each) so looks like I'll skip this set. Unless there are unaired episodes on the disks I can't see myself watching extras more than once so not worth the hassle to sell my old ones and rebuy (at a higher price) for a few extras that won't get watched multiple times.

Are you talking about the "Behind the Mythology of Stargate SG-1" doc? It's now $1.99,even though several of the "MGM" sites still list it as free.

I would get this if I didn't already have Seasons 1-6. I guess I'll wait for a sale and pick up the remaining seasons individually.

Who is listing it as free? And is this something to be viewed before or after season 10? I haven't seen 10 yet, I'm waiting for the DVDs.

Damn. All I need is season 10, but I am an extras fiend. Hopefully I can find an alternative to getting those bonus discs.

Hmmm... this is one case where my indecision paid off. I've only got the first season.

I like SG-1, but I don't *love* it... so I never really invested in picking up the other sets. Getting everything in one tight little snazzy package for $175 or so (via DD sale) sounds just about perfect. This one's definitely going on the wish list.

Amazon has it for 209 shipped, it's getting to that point where I might consider selling off what I have to upgrade. (like bboisvert said $175 or so via DD sale)

I would think the top question is are all the numerous errors over the years with Stargate Sets corrected with this version?

Not sure if it is worthy of its own thread and these are usually fruitless, but I came across a petition while browsing another forum, for the bonus material to be offered up separately for those that have bought the seasons over the years.

Not sure which errors you are referring to, but I would guess they are just repackaging the old discs. The "Threads" episode issue was fixed, so I would assume that that will be allright. I think there was some insert art problems before, but I doubt those won't be included anyway.

Luckily I only have the first two seasons, so I'll be able to justify selling those and picking up this set.

tvshowsondvd has the scoop on all the extras.

They better make those available for everyone that supported them buying the releases as they came.

The warning being that if you just wait 7 years and you'll be able to pick up an entire 10 seasons of Stargate Atlantis?

First pics of the set, I Like it (love the outer box, but don't really care for the way the discs are housed) but probably won't be getting it. (unless I get motivated to sell mine and save space):

Yeah, those discs are going to be scratched to hell. Now I feel better about not getting this for the bonus discs...

I was. I think a lot of work had already been put into it though so this will probably cover that.
