DVD Talk review of 'Joan Collins Collection'

I read DVD Savant's DVD review of Joan Collins Collection at http://www.dvdtalk.com/dvdsavant/s2350coll.html
and I just wanted to add a couple of notes to a review I otherwise agree with:

1. There actually is a way to hear only the portions of the films with commentary. If you select the commentary feature, it allows you to skip from one commentary section to the next with the chapter selection button.

2. Savant writes of Rally 'Round the Flag Boys! that "Leo McCarey's non-direction simply parks the camera at medium distance from most scenes," but praises the performances of Newman, Woodward, Collins and Weld. I think that's unfair to McCarey. His method from silent days on, through Duck Soup and Love Affair and his other masterpieces was to shoot most scenes in medium shots, and to encourage actors to improvise and cultivate a natural comic tone. Part of the reason Collins is so much better here than in most of her '50s movies is because of McCarey's direction, and getting good performances out of actors is a big part of movie direction, after all.
