While I certainly appreciate that Speedy is getting credit where credit is due... sometimes press like this might hinder his efforts...

That's awesome. Although I do hope no one cracks down on early postings because of this.

Well, now Speedy is on the radar... I guess it was bound to happen one of these days. Congrats on the global fame, Speedy! You deserve it.

Yeah, I'm thinking this is not a good thing. Either CC or Sony will be pissed about this article, and someone will come knocking on DVDTalk's door... Speedy, you may need to leave the country for a while, and come back in a year under a different name.

Has anyone heard from speedy today? I'm afraid the blacked-out vans already got to him

I too worry about potential repercussions of this.

First, we get the "cease and desist" for Black Friday ads, now we may see it on the standard weeklies as well.

Yea, prss on those kind of 'early ads" is not always a good thing. God knows what idiot corporation will come down and start suing.

I guess it's a good sign that DVDtalk hasn't been asked to remove the listing. They tend to fold under corporate pressure. I'm actually surprised that these early listings have been tolerated for so long. Hope they stick around.

"Given speedy1961's previous track record, it's almost certainly not bogus..."

Why, Peep? I would think if anything, the corporations would be pleased to be getting so much press and advertisement. You have to figure this site represents a LARGE contingency of money spent on movies.

Without speedy's topics, I know I'd have more money in my wallet and fewer movies on my shelf right now.

Nah.... I'm OK.

The Bloomberg News service contacted me regarding yesterday's story that I leaked. I'm going to try and assist the story................

but in the interim I've been procuring Target infomation to go up this afternoon.

The Target ad also shows the PS3 unit for $499.99.

Thank You ALL and DVDTalk for your support.

That's what I thought also until I heard how crazy they were about people leaking advance word on their Black Friday sales.

Well, in this particular situation I think Sony was hoping to get a few bucks out of people buying PS3's at the current price point. Also, I assume they were hoping to get the jump on Microsoft -- who now has more time to plan a response/pre-emptive strike.

I don't think Msoft is in any position to do a price drop considering they're already taking a billion dollar hit in the gaming division. Investors won't take too kindly to that.

Wouldn't it be irrelevant though since when the ad comes out in 2 weeks there would still be enough time to return it or get a price adjustment?

If the heat comes down on Speedy, then he could always post "fictional" ads for stores such as Circuitous City, Least Buy, and Tarjay...completely unrelated to any real stores, living or otherwise.
