Your "Top 5 - Must See" Westerns

Ok folks, been on a westerns kick lately - which is sort of surprising, as I was never much a fan of the genre before. Still, I was hoping to get some recommendations of some "Classics" I should check out, that I may not have seen yet. Pretend I haven't seen anything, and just give your Top 5 films to see, and I'll form a consensus of what to check out from there.

Thanks in advance!

I second this list, although it saddens me there is no place for For A Few Dollars more on it.

I really enjoyed Broken Trail recently too, though it's a made-for-tv thing.

I really don't care much for Shane. Lovely to look at, but kinda static and stagy IMO. High Noon bores me to tears, but I'm glad you posted My Darling Clementine since it would be in my top 10 easily, along with The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance (talk about stagy... )

Also be sure to watch any other Western directed by Leone or Peckinpah. Unforgiven and Butch & Sundance are honorable mentions.

Winchester '73
Bend of the River
The Naked Spur
The Far Country
The Man from Laramie

If you haven't seen the Mann-Stewart westerns then you've missed some key films from the genre.

This is what I would watch if I had a weekend for it:
Wild Bunch
Unforgiven
Blazing Saddles (not officially a western)
Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid (not offically a western)
The Good, the bad and the ugly
(actually, none of these are officially "westerns" in the traditional sense)

I want to catch True Grit again and The Long Riders and Bite the Bullet...so it would be a really long weekend.

I've never seen that Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid movie.
