Where can I rent a Wii console?

Wanted to let the kids play with it before taking the plunge? I've called a few Blockbusters here in NJ, but no luck.

Thx

I think your best bet would be to go to Best Buy on Sunday and try to score one at retail. If you don't like it, take it back or sell it.

I remember renting the Saturn system from Blockbuster before but they don't do that anymore. I don't know of any place that rents consoles anymore.

I would just take pinata's advice. Buy one, if your kids don't like it, throw it up on Craigslist and get your money back in full.

It's a friggin Wii. If they are old enough to coordinate their hands to be able to play, how would they not like it?

At this point, 2007, I think your only chance at renting a console would be a mom and pop video store.

Best bet is probably just try one at a friends house.

Video departments in local grocery stores rent consoles (around here, Pittsburgh).

Took everyone's advice and went to go buy one. I didn't realize that these were still difficult to get. Not a single unit to be found in any CC, BB, EBG, TRU, or Game Stop in northern NJ.

Yep, BB is saving them as they are in the sunday ad, and it sounds like they have a pretty good sized shipment this time.

I'd just show up 30 minutes or so before opening and wait in line and you'll be good to go.

The only place I can think of is a rent-to-own place such as Aaron's or Rent-A-Center. You pay monthly or semi-monthly. Everyone pre-approved, no credit check, etc. Personally, I think it's a rip-off as they currently are offering the Xbox CORE for almost $700 by the time all payments are made.

This would allow you to try it for a month or more. Not sure how you'd go about cancelling a contract with them -- just stop paying and they come pick it up or choose a short-term rental plan.

Went to BB this morning half an hour prior to opening, and there were at least 50 people already in line. The manager came out about 10 minutes later, counted off 25 people, and told everyone else they were out of luck.

The BBs in Bergen County are closed on Sunday. Might get lucky tomorrow.
