The last VHS I bought was Threads (a great British TV-movie not on DVD in the U.S.) about two years ago. Before that, it was Lost Highway (there's a 1.33:1 pan-and-scan Canadian R1 DVD, but the 2.35:1 widescreen VHS is pretty readily available on Amazon Marketplace, eBay, etc.). Of course, I no longer own a VCR...

My last VHS was also Star Wars: Episode I. It was the collector's edition with the 35mm film strip and excerpted version of "The Art of Star Wars".

Holy Matrimony (1943) last December. Fox has never released it on VHS, CED, Beta, laserdisc, CD-i, DVD, etc.
Thankfully, the bootleg is studio-quality (it's something I'd expect right from Fox) and I was able to make a fully progressive 24p DVD-R from it (no ghosting). It's a pity it's not on DVD since it's a hilarious movie.
Before that, I think I picked up a rare VHS of some cartoons back in 2001.

Probably my last VHS purchases (At Suncoast) was blind-buying 2 Anchor Bay spaghetti westerns, Keoma and Companeros. Loved the latter, the other is still slowly growing on me (Already pre-ordered Blue Underground's release for next month)

Oh-- now that I think, there has been another, more recently. Acquired the Disney version of The Legend of Sleepy Hollow in its original clamshell case from a wonderful seller on eBay. Amazingly, still shrinkwrapped and in mint condition. Always loved that packaging and artwork as a kid.

Last year I bought the Director's cut of "Lawnmower Man" on ebay. It is currently the only VHS tape I own.
Reason I Keep Telling Myself I Did It: It's never been released except as the theatrical cut with all the extended stuff as deleted scenes. The director's cut is over thirty minutes longer and improves the film significantly! Yes, I know that I am one of only five people in the world that actually like this movie.
Real Reason I Did It: I was delusional the day I sold off my VHS collection, and didn't now what I was doing. VHS picture and sound quality are far superior to DVD. And HD? Forget it. You're all crazy. I don't even know why I'm a member on this site, or why I've bought all these useless DVD's.

In 2001 when I still didn't want to hear anything about some new format called "DVD" (as now I stubbornly ignore HD-DVD and Bluray), I continued to collect horror movies on VHS. That year I had a trip to Finland and bought Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer on VHS in a Filmfrikki shop. I was frustrated about how few VHSs were in the store (just one little shelf), but there were a lot of DVDs. So this movie became my last VHS shopping. And it took me 4 years to finally open my eyes and start with DVDs.

Bootleg of Rock and Rule, back in 1999, when I was new to Ebay and easily suckered. Paid too much for it. Not bad quality, though. Satisfied my wife. When Unearthed's 2-disc SE came out, I was more than happy to toss the #$%!in' thing.
How about VHS that I hang on to, even though I don't have a VCR any more?
Real Ghostbusters collections from Magic Window--some are on DVD now
Little Mermaid, for the hidden penis on the cover, just for shits and giggles
Fantasia, not sure why any more
Faith No More Who Cares a Lot, I can get rid of that now
Stuff I taped years ago--Damon Wayans stand-up, Real Ghostbusters, HBO special Alien 3: Behind the Screams, Star Trek 25th Anniversary, etc.
Star Wars Widescreen Box--I suppose I can get rid of it now, but...it's cool
