Interesting that Big Brother 8 is keeping 6-7m viewers every single show. Pretty loyal audience. I can't imagine CBS is complaining during the rocky summer weeks.

American Inventor not doing very well in the ratings this season. Most likely due to the people who advanced into the finals no doubt. They really dropped the ball this season by choosing inventions that have more of a marketability, than inventions that could change people lives & make a difference.
If American Inventor comes back next summer for a third season, I really hope they change some things. Coosing inventions that help people & save lives would really boost the ratings.

I guess when TNT promotes The Closer as TVs #1 RATED CABLE Program, they are actually telling the truth. I always thought that WWE Raw got bigger numbers than that, I guess the Chris Benoit tragedy lowered the viewership.

I guess we can pretty much say goodbye to American Inventor. I doubt it will be returning next summer. They really dropped the ball this season.

It's pretty pathetic that people would rather watch flippin' repeats of CSI: Miami & Two & a Half men, over a new episode of Hell's Kitchen. I don't like reality shows but Ramsay's in it, why more people watching?

Nielsen families are idiots. CSI: Miami gets between 15-17M viewers during the regular season. So over 8+M are still watching repeats in the summer? What the hell were they doing September to May?

^^^ Your %100 rite, Nielson families are idiots.

The reason why CSI: Miami, American Idol, Grey's Anatomy & basically every "Reality"/"Game" show on television gets the biggest numbers is because those shows are practically the same thing every week.

Seriously, CSI: Miami is the same fucking thing over & over, every week. I can't tell the difference between the episodes. I know that every show has a formula to a curtain extent but my god is CSI: Miami the most repetitive piece of boring sh*t in a long time.

For Christ-Sake, Hawaii Five-O was made in the 70's (68'-80', 11 seasons) & it's much more exciting then any of the CSI's.

It's pretty sad that a show that started in 66' like Mission: Impossible is better than most of the current network shit. I do watch alot of primetime shows & some of them are really good but the CSI's are just so bland & predicable.

I don't mind the original CSI (though I don't watch reruns at all) but they are all the same. And I don't watch CSI: Miami at anymore. At first Caruso's acting was laughable (especially the opening quip) but it went from funny to painful to even watch.

^^^ Yeah, Caruso's acting was funny at first at the beginning of CSI: Miami, but now it's just painful.

The funny thing is that & I'm not saying he was outstanding or anything but David Caruso wasn't all that bad on NYPD: Blue before he got a "I'm a huge star, with a huge ego" & left.

I'm in the minority here I guess because I actually enjoy 'CSI: Miami'. I never watched it when it was actually on TV, but got into it on DVD via Netflix and have been working my way thru the seasons one by one.

Granted, it may not be the best show on TV but it definitey isn't the worst by a longshot. It sounds to be that those that don't like the show for the most part is because of Caruso. 95% of the comments and downfalls that have been made are based on Caruso's acting (whether it be overacting, or lack of - your call).

For me, the show is entertaining and one where you can sit back and enjoy, and not be throughly engrossed in trying to figure it all out. I think the storylines have just enough to keep you wondering. Obviously there are episodes where it seems repetitive, but what show isn't like that?

I'd rather watch this show then 'Hell's Kitchen', or any other "reality/talent show any day of the week.

Nateman, out of curiousity, what shows do you enjoy/watch?

I absolutely hate CSI: Miami, but it has to do more with the horrible plotlines and horrendous shooting style than anything with the acting (which is generally lousy). The dialogue is also cringe enducing, but I find that true of regular CSI as well (haven't seen CSI:NY).

Trust me, Caruso isn't the main reason why CSI: Miami is awful. RichC2 pretty much nailed the main problems with CSI: Miami. I watch CSI & CSI: NY & even though I don't think they are the greatest television shows in history, at least they keep you intrested enough that you don't want to bang your head against a wall.

I know this sounds mean but I think basically every Crime Drama currently in primetime is pretty easy to figure out. The thing that makes CSI: Miami worse than the rest is that they don't even do a good job at putting the "bad" guy away. Shows like NCIS & Criminal Minds are pretty predictable but at least they do a good job at covering up the repetitive storylines. Even though the Law & Order franchise is dipping in terms of quality (esp. the original L&O), at least they can still keep you from not turning the channel. Law & Order is very repetitive but at least they don't alway have the "bad" guys put in jail & it has a sort of truthfulness in that the "good" guys don't always get justice & the justice system is a unfair mess.

You wanted to know what shows I watch...

Well I watch alot of Television shows & not all of them are great but in my opinion next to American Idol & Grey's Anatomy, CSI: Miami is the worst show currently on.
I watch probally between 22-28 shows each PT-TV season but shows like Scrubs, Earl, 30 Rock etc... are some of the most excellent, brilliant television but yet the major public doesn't watch.

I think Primetime "Network" Television is at it's lowest in years & more & more of the higher quality shows are on HBO & Showtime. I probally watch more TV than alot anybody but CSI: Miami is just the ultimate "Dumb it down for the major public" television show.

I actually don't hate CSI:Miami as much as some of you. But, last season was flat out awful. Some of the storylines and acting was so bad that it was cringe worthy. The season finale was probably the worst finale of all CBS programming last season. I'm just puzzled why over 8 million Americans are watching it in the summer when 15-17 million were watching it during the regular season. I can never understand why so many Nielsen families tune into repeats.

One of the highlights for me from last season was bringing back Sofia Milos for the premiere and later in the season. Since Yelena is now a PI, I hope to see her again this season as well.

I've tried to watch CSI: Miami but I am afraid of burning out the cones in my retina. I need a black and white TV to watch it, honestly.

I don't get why so many people tune into repeats either. Sure some of them are catching up (& are to cheap to buy/rent the DVDs) but you can't tell me that all of those 8 million people are in the "Catch-Up" catagory.

I think the main reason why so many Nielsen families tune into repeats is because they are to stupid to remember that they have already seen the episode they are currently watching.

I'll never understand why the worst shows on television usually get the biggest numbers. There have only been a select few shows that are actually brilliant that have had high ratings. M*A*S*H, Cheers, Seinfeld & ER are a few examples.

Just a quick update that I'm just going to wait until the season starts as there really isn't anything interesting going on ratings-wise on TV (IMO, at least).

Yeah, The Summer is dead in terms of Primetime, especially near the end of summer when nothing is new basically. Most of the shows will be starting pretty soon anyway & I don’t think many people care about repeat ratings other than the networks, Keep up the great job, TheMovieman.

Even though the majority of new episodes premiere next week, I believe there are a couple this week so I thought I'd begin this again now.
