I had dropped this show after about 3-4 episodes last fall, but I heard it got better. I think I will try watching it again. My summer viewing schedule is not as crowded.

I honestly fast forwarded through all of the scenes in the 1st half with the brother and pregnant wife and bartender, farmer and IRS chick, and stupid ass Dale. Just watch the scenes with Jake, Major Dad...err, George Hearst...err, Johnston, and Hawkins. You'll keep your sanity, and won't miss any of the real plot development.

I too dropped out after a handful of episodes. I'll be sure to catch theses encore airings of season 1 due to the word-of-mouth that the second half was indeed better and knowing its picked up for a (mini) season 2 (will at least offer some closure).
Thanks for the heads-up!

Oh, all right....add me as well to the list of "bailed early and will give it another chance".
Just as long as CBS doesn't screw this up like FOX did a few summers ago with their 24 replay that skipped some episodes.

There are more than a few Jericho eps that you could skip and not miss a beat.

Yeah there were a few mediocre episodes, but overall it was a solid season. Hawkins is one of the most fascinating and mysterious characters I have ever seen on TV. He alone is worth watching the entire season.
Another good episode to watch was the prequel episode in the middle of the season that tracked the events leading up to the bomb.

I bailed a few episodes before the break but then started up again when it returned. I sort of want to see what I missed on those 2 or so episodes. I know the old bag died and they got the tank but I never actually saw the execution.

Okay...someone on the CBS message board, who says he works at a CBS affiliate, posted an update to the Jericho scheduling. This scheduling may actually work for some of you who prefer to skip some of the fluff episodes of the 1st half. Again, this is not an official statement about this scheduling, but it appears to be real.

JERICHO
Friday, 9:00-10:00pm cnyt/cpt
Effective July 6, 2007 UFN
RETURN TO JERICHO
Friday, 8:00-9:00pm cnyt/cpt
July 13, 2007 OTO
Program Replaced effective July 6, 2007 UFN:
CLOSE TO HOME (Last Telecast 6/29/07)
Program Preempted July 13, 2007 OTO:
GHOST WHISPERER
Herewith firm order on the return of JERICHO as noted above.
JERICHO returns to the schedule on Fridays, 9:00-10:00pm cnyt/cpt effective July 6, 2007. A rebroadcast of the special recap episode RETURN TO JERICHO will air on Friday, 8:00-9:00pm cnyt/cpt on July 13, 2007.
So it appears the pilot will be broadcasted July 6th, then on July 13th the Jericho 1st half recap episode will air at 8pm and then CBS will air Episode 11 at 9pm. Then CBS will air the remaining 10 episodes every week afterwards. Seems like their isn't enough weeks to air all 22 episodes.
IMO, the recap episode is actually an excellent summary of the 1st 11 episodes.

It's actually not a horrible scenario like what 24 did last summer. The recap episode that was narrated by Lennie James (Hawkins) is actually a really good and thorough recap of the 1st half.
