Sunshine

The story:

"The Sun is dying, and mankind is dying with it. Our last hope: a spaceship and a crew of eight men and women. They carry a device which will breathe new life into the star. But deep into their voyage, out of radio contact with Earth, their mission is starting to unravel. Soon the crew are fighting not only for their lives, but their sanity.

The film once again pairs director Danny Boyle with writer Alex Garland and producer Andrew Macdonald, who previously teamed up for the thinking person’s zombie film, 28 DAYS LATER.

The cast is led by Rose Byrne (TROY), Cliff Curtis (WHALE RIDER), Chris Evans (FANTASTIC FOUR), Troy Garity (AFTER THE SUNSET), Cillian Murphy (28 DAYS LATER), Hiroyuki Sanada (THE LAST SAMURAI), Benedict Wong (DIRTY PRETTY THINGS) and Michelle Yeoh (CROUCHING TIGER, HIDDEN DRAGON).
"

I'm pretty damned excited about this. I'm a big fan of Danny Boyle and Cillian Murphy. The cast is kind of terrific. A lot of really good under the radar actors, outside of Murphy who has become pretty hot. I didn't see a release date but I think I had seen somewhere else that it was due in the fall of 2006.

Sounds interesting, I look forward to the trailer-then hopefully I'll be able to say it looks interesting too.

I like the cast and crew, but this sounds like The Core on the Sun, unless they decide to take a different tack.

Looks more like Event Horizon meets the OC.
The former being a good thing, and the latter being bad.
Hope they can pull it off.

Great cast. Sounds like it could be a decent flick.

When I read this part I was laughing, it looked like a B movie.

That's the exact same thing I did. When I was reading the first part I started questioning the plausibility of something like that happening. Then I read the second part and I suddenly stopped caring about that first part. It sounds good now

Trailer for Danny Boyle's SUNSHINE (3/16/07)

Trailer

Though I'm not particularly a fan of the genre, I have fairly high hopes for this one, and it appears Boyle is handling the transition into big-budget sci-fi well. I don't mind looking at Cillian Murphy for a couple of hours, either.

I dug the trailer, lots of interesting visuals I can't wait to see on the big screen. Horay for Boyle!

Some additional footage, this time showing more psychological, almost horror-esque aspects. While the actual trailer looks nice, this is the stuff that gets me excited.

Wow. Could they have picked a shittier wayto show this trailer? Not only is it stamp-sized but it loads slow as hell. (Read: Does not load).

I've enjoyed all of the danny boyle movies i've seen, and this one looks pretty good.

I didn't appreciate the Requiem for a Dream song during the trailer though. Come on original scores... do something.

I actually started a Sunshine thread back when I thought the film might be close to coming out....like, a year ago. I'm a big Danny Boyle and Cillian Murphy fan and I've been looking forward to this one for many a day. Trainspotting and 28 Days Later are two of probably my favorite 25 films ever. It will be good, no doubt.

Why did the trailer instantly remind of The Core?

Hmmm, I don't know about this one.

how could it remind you of the core? i don't think any journey to the center of the earth will reveal a sun is there.

my question, can someone name the reuiqem for a dream song? i like listening to it.

or point me to any cd its on?

The trailer is now on Apple.com and in glorious HD. Wow...can't wait for this one. Between this and 300, March is going to be a great month for the movies.

Looks good. Sci-Fi is my least favorite genre, but this one looks good to me.

It's by Kronos Quartet / Clint Mansell and you can buy the soundtrack CD, just run a search for Requiem for a Dream in the music section over at Amazon.

That particular piece of music or cue is used throughout the soundtrack. There is no specific track that uses it. I suggest buying the soundtrack because it's very good from start to finish.

As for Sunshine, I'm not sure but I'm going to keep high hopes. I'm a Boyle fan so I will most likely see this and enjoy it.

Saw this trailered before Smokin' Aces, thought it looked cool. That, and it's the whole, "he's a good director, I'm there!" thing.
