Recommendations for DVD's to show on new LCD TV
I will be getting a new Sony 40W2000 LCD TV on Tuesday & was wondering if anyone has any recommendations for some DVD's that will look good on it.
I had considered the folowing but didn't know if the technical quality of the DVD's was any good
The origional 3 Starwars films
The first 2 Terminator films
The new Casino Royal film
plus any others you could recommend

Welcome to DVDTALK
I have the SONY Bravia and Dr. Zhivago looks absolutely fabulous on it. If you are region-free I strongly suggest Besson's Angel-A, upconverted the disc looks almost as good as HD. Without being upconverted the disc still looks amazing!
Hope this helps,

What DVD player do you have? I recommend looking into one of the newer HD formats or getting some HD programming through your local cable provider. Personally I think most HD material demos a lot better than even very good DVDs.
I would do a search for thread titles with the word "reference" in them, and you'll find plenty of suggestions there.

I just installed (heh, plugged in) my new 32" Sharp Acquos LCD (LOVE you Costco!) and I have a Toshiba upconvert player set to 720i and the first movie I watched (on Sat.) was my all time favorite, "True Romance." Looks GREAT! Admittedly, it's not true HD or anything, but the difference from a tube is huge!
Sorry I wasn't any help and didn't mean to threadcrap...so, yeah, Star Wars sounds good!
