Guitar Hero Encore: Rocks the 80s - PS2 - July 24th

Figured this game deserves a thread of it's own instead of being lumped in with the GHII stuff. . .

The tracklist so far:

1. Opening Licks

* "Holy Diver" - Dio
* "Metal Health (Bang Your Head)" - Quiet Riot (Encore)

2. Amp Warmers

* "Nothin' But a Good Time" - Poison
* "I Wanna Rock" - Twisted Sister

3. String Snappers

* "Lonely is the Night" - Billy Squier
* "Synchronicity II" - The Police
* "Heat of the Moment" - Asia
* "Shakin'" - Eddie Money
* "Bathroom Wall" - Faster Pussycat (Encore)

4. Return of the Shred

* "Round and Round" - Ratt
* "I Ran (So Far Away)" - A Flock of Seagulls

5. Relentless Riffs

* "Play With Me" - Extreme

6. Furious Fretwork

* "18 and Life" - Skid Row

The following songs have yet to be categorized into stages:

* "Balls to the Wall" - Accept
* "Only a Lad" - Oingo Boingo
* "Radar Love" - White Lion
* "The Warrior" - Scandal
* "We Got the Beat" - The Go-Go's

Exactly.

Two different games--two different threads.

Isn't this not really a separate game but an expansion pack?

It's a separate game. You don't have to own GH2 to play this one.

Most of the discussion in the GH2 thread in the last few months has been about the 360 version and it's exclusive songs and achievements and downloadable content, etc.

But when this comes out next month, it will generate a lot of it's own talk, which won't have anything to do with the 360 version. I don't have a 360, and don't want to sift through a bunch of 360 stuff to read about the new game--and I'm sure many of the 360 owners don't want to sift through a bunch of stuff about the new game to read about GHII.

As I said in the other thread, I'll pass on this one as I hate 80's music.

Not addressed yet. Hard to say with all the bitching about the overpricing if the GHI song packs thus far.

Agreed. Josh we tend to know your stance on a lot of things, and especially if you've made your voice heard in a different thread on the same topic, we don't really need to hear it again.

Sorry. I didn't mean it as a thread crap as I like the idea that they're making genre/era specific games/expansion packs, this one's just not my bag.

Here's hoping for a 90's grunge centered one.

Has it been confirmed that these songs will or will not be available for download from xbox live? I'd buy all of them for $60 if it was available.

Nothing official yet. I'm hoping for this as well. Even though I have a PS2 and guitars already, I'd much rather have the nicer graphics and online leaderboards.

Any amount of Bon Jovi is not a good thing anywhere, gentlemen.

July 24th is also when the next download pack will come out for the 360. July 24th 2013.

And this game should have fucking got Huey Lewis and The News on there. I want to rock out like Marty McFly did with Power of Love.

This one is very exciting.

I'm also waiting on the Metal Edition announcement and my life may be complete

That trailer gave me a headache.

People already know what the game is so a trailer for the game should mainly sample the music available in the game. That thing was just a jumble of clips and poorly done I thought.

I think I am going to do my best and wait to see if the tracks are later announced for the 360. If they had picked an Oingo Boingo song I liked better I most likely would of picked it up on release day.

I kind of wish there'd be some special co-op songs apart from the career modes. Right now it's mostly, lead and bass. I'd like to rock out on something like Switch 625 from Def Leppard. I dunno, just something to make co-op play a little more interesting.

Apparently, Best Buy got in their pre-order box for this, and an employee posted some pics over at IGN. They're tough to read, but he says it lists these additional songs:

"Wrathchild" (Iron Maiden)
"Caught In A Mosh" (Anthrax)
"No One Like You" (Scorpions)
"Turning Japanese" (The Vapors)
"Seventeen" (Winger)
"Hold on Loosely" (.38 Special)

My excitement level just went up a lot with Wrathchild, No One Like You and Caught in a Mosh. Please let at least one of those be a master track God, please!
