I will admit that I had recently researched all things Degrassi but got a little confused. I didn't know where to start watching. Not to derail this thread, but can someone put these series in their proper viewing order? Will these two releases complete "all things Degrassi" on DVD? Thanks!

I thought the progession of the series was

Kids of Degrassi Street
Degrassi Junior High
Degrassi High
Degrassi: The Next Generation

I still have yet to buy the Degrassi Junior High complete DVD set!

Now's the time! $40 at DD after 20% off.

Thanks for the chronology. I guess I'll start watch from the beginning in August!

School's Out is the earliest I've ever heard cursing aired on CBC.

I'll be curious to hear what you think Giles. I've been considering Degrassi from the beginning after seeing a couple of Next Generation episodes, but have always sort of winced at the expense of collecting everything.

The only Degrassi related program I haven't seen is this Kids of Degrassi Street. Thoughts from anyone who has seen it? As good as the rest of the stuff?

Okay, so what other coming-of-age show would you most closely compare this show to? I am interested but don't know if I will like it. I love Freaks & Geeks, The Wonder Years and even Saved by the Bell as a guilty pleasure and throwback to my childhood -- does this resemble any of these shows? Or is it more like a Dawson's Creek kind of sappy drama?

Its good, but pretty different. Some of the kids are the same, like Wheels, but play different characters - his name is Griff in KODS. I grew up watching it, but I'm on the fence about buying it because it has a really different feel from Jr High and High.

It's nothing like any of those. Its in a class of its own, seriously. You have to see it to understand.

Lets just say its better than Saved by the Bell by a mile, It's not as sappy as The Wonder Years (I like the TWY's but it is cheesy) & It's on the same level of quality as Freaks & Geeks.
Oh & its not nearly as dramatic as Dawson's Creek.

I don't think any of them is a fair comparison to Degrassi. It's way more realistic than any of those, and much more dramatic in a real-world sense.
