Michael, I can find some of the old promotions if you're interested in keeping a historical record. I'd again recommend bolding the current promotions and leaving the expired ones non-bolded.
Michael Corvin
06-05-07, 05:40 PM
Not really. :) I'll just go from here and build the list as is. Unless there is a big reason to keep a historical record. I personally don't see the need.
I'm considering the bolding, but I might just add a column at the end denoting whether the promotion is dead or not.
At any rate, I'll try and float the current ones to the top to keep it fresh. As it stands right now they are in date order already. I might need to reverse the order though so the most recent is ALWAYS #1 on the list.

Not a movie, but if you buy Norbit at Target, it comes with $5 concession cash. I didn't look closely (you'd have to drug me and replace me with my evil twin to get me to watch Norbit), so I'm not sure which theaters it is good at or the expiration date.

Actually, it was tried before a few years ago. But like many things on this forum, all it takes is someone just taking charge and doing the work involved to start a good thread. Big props to MC for doing that.
But it's not about credit or who owns what, it's about all of us working together to help each other out. It takes more than one person to keep a list "definitive", and this thread proves that this forum is usually great when it comes to that task.

Michael, in addition to the concession cash with Norbit, I also found a different free ticket for Pirates3. It comes in the newer edition of Con Air, and expires in July as opposed to June like the other. It is in my car with all my other coupons, but I'll try to remember to get the rest of the details for you. I got it at BB, but I'm not sure if it was exclusive to there or not.
Doh! Nevermind. Now I see that this is for 2006 with the 2nd Pirates theater release. Weird that my BB had it prominently displayed the other day as if new, with several copies......

Definitely. I'm not doing this for some goofy internet DVDtalk fame. I just figured I would help out. This thread is only as good as the users that provide the info. I'm nobody, I'm just regurgitating what others give me.

The short version is that AMC no longer accepts Hollywood Movie Money, as of May. I am ticked at AMC and now at Hollywood Movie Money, and have complained to both. If you search for the movie title at Hollywood Movie Money's website, even theaters that do not accept it will show up. You have to search with your Promo code to verify which theaters take it, but I would prefer to know that BEFORE I buy the Movie Money.
I'll probably receive no satisfaction from either, but at least I will let my disappointment be heard.

I had the same problem at my local Loews/AMC theater. I was so upset I contacted their corporate "Customer Services" at 800-326-2432 x570 to find out the reason for their not accepting Hollywood Movie Money. Their pathetic response was that it took too much of their time to process the movie certificates for reimbursement. As a result, we will have to drive 30-miles to another town to use our Hollywood Movie Money. I intend to BOYCOTT Loews/AMC theaters until they decide to take care of their customers.
It's pitiful that mom and pop theaters are accepting Hollywood Movie Money but a large conclomerate like AMC Theaters is too cheap to take the time to do the right thing for their customers. Many stores accept coupons for various products and make a profit from processing these coupons. The management of AMC Theaters is retarded. I will look forward to hearing about their bankruptcy in the near future. In the meantime, I am headed to a Regal Theater 30-miles away!!!

Just got my Pringles Spider-Man 3 Hollywood Movie Money in the mail this week and to my surprise it's good for ANY movie. Spider-Man is pictured and printed all over it but the text on the front, back, and detachable part of the ticket all says it's good for any movie. It covers up to a $12 admission price which is pretty high for these. The money is good until 10/30/2007, so that gives you 4 months.
The offer however ends on June 29th. So you have to buy $10 worth of Pringles and have your letter postmarked by June 29th.
Here's the Pringles home page with the offer details:
http://www.pringles.com/pages/index.shtml
Here are the T&C...note the 1 per person restriction...
To receive a certificate redeemable for a discount of up to $12 off a movie ticket at participating theaters by mail, hand print your name, mailing address and daytime telephone number on a 3” x 5” card, place the card in an envelope together with one (1) or more original cash register receipt(s) showing one or more purchases of Pringles products with a total aggregate price of $10 or more (with the DATE(S) AND PRICES CIRCLED), and mail the envelope, with first-class postage affixed, to Pringles “Spider-Man 3” Movie Ticket Offer, Department UDL, P.O. Box 100289, White Bear Lake, MN 55110-0289. Cash register receipt(s) must be obtained from product purchased by you. No mechanical reproductions accepted. Pringles product purchases must have been made between April 9, 2007 and June 29, 2007. Submissions must be postmarked by June 29, 2007 and received by July 9, 2007.
I never was a big fan of AMC.. their popcorn doesn't taste as good as Harkins, and their large is smaller than Harkins, but the same price (or a little more.. I forget).. Plus Harkins has the movie cup for $1 sodas every time.
But anyway, I've found that Hollywood Movie Money is VERY good about reimbursals through the mail.. I've sent in receipts on three occasions (mainly for those "300" movie cash promos from Best Buy) and got checks about a week later... easy easy easy..

Good for you! However, that is only because your theater's cashier or manager is NOT informed of their corporate policy. Even when you go to the Hollywood Movie Money's website, no Loews/AMC theater for any Zip Code will show up! Try it and you will see.

What do you need to send them...the theater ticket and your Hollywood Movie Money certificate? How did you manage to send "in receipts on three occasions?" Thanks in advance for explaining the rules of the game!

FYI...if you buy The Last Mimzy at Costco on DVD, you get two tickets to Hairspray instead of just the one. I noticed this the last time I was at Costco and decided to pick it up today (the DVD Talk reviewers review swayed me), but they were all gone. I was kinda irritated because I saw a gentleman walking toward the register while I was walking to the DVD section that had at least ten or more copies of Last Mimzy in his hand

Free Transformers Concessions Cash when you buy 1 of 17 selected DVDs for $6.99/
Concession Cash value = $5
Concession Cash valid 7/4/07 - 7/30/07
Minimum 30 per Best Buy store.
Michael, I don't know if you want to make a slight update to your listing. When I checked out this deal on Best Buy's website, the titles are listed at different prices (not all @ $6.99 anymore). Some were as low as $4.99 -- which makes for a nice deal since you're getting $5 in movie money.

I bought a couple, and opened the outer packaging which had the kmart stickers on it, advertising the exclusive bonus disc they contain and the free ticket. But that bonus disc does not contain the movie ticket. And the main title DVD looks like the original sealed title, with original UPC and all. Haven't opened the main titles yet, as they are not titles that I would buy otherwise and will be ebayed or re-gifted. So the free movie tickets were either stolen out of the titles I had bought, or are inside the main titles. Maybe I'll pick the least "offensive" one and open her up. So which one would that be? Annie, Matilda, Daddy Day Care, or Stuart Little 2........

Oops, I just noticed that we don't have the Die Hard ticket from the Walmart set. It is probably the same as the BB ticket, but came in a Walmart package that had a trailer DVD, XL tshirt, and $8.50 Hollywood Movie Money that expires 7/21. I had the same thing happen for the new Fantastic Four film. When I complained to the manager, he told me that AMC's contract with Hollywood Movie Money expired at the end of May.
Both AMC and Hollywood Movie Money stated I needed to check the valid theaters at the website on the day of the showing, which I think is ridiculous.

No way they sold out that fast. I'm sure that they just didn't put all of them out yet, most stores don't put things like that out until Tuesdays, even though they are not really a new release.
I'm sure that these things will sit on the shelf as long as those hundreds of Pirates 3 and Blades of Glory coupons sat, forever.

No luck getting the Rush Hour 3 Free Movie money yesterday.
I spent an hour in Best Buy and had 2 employees brush me off before I found a third that took the time to help. After a half an hour looking through the store and the warehouse, he came up empty.
I did buy one of the titles, with the intention of returning it (and possibly repurchasing it) once I find a store with the Movie Money.
... I also placed an online order for in-store pickup that included both one of the DVD titles and the Free Movie money. Hopefully this method will work better.

Once they start showing up, and I wouldn't be surprised if different stores restock them gradually as they "sell", they will likely be on the aisles next to the titles they go with, and also on a separate endcap or two, and possibly in the new release aisle.
All the previous Best Buy free ticket jobs had a huge surplus, and even if you can't find them in the movie section, there are tons of them in the warehouse.

The Rush Hour 3 tickets say in BOLD print *Excludes AMC Theaters. Visit www.hollywoodmoviemoney.com for participating theatres." So I guess there has been lots of complaints about AMC, so they made a point to clearly state it right on the voucher... Yep, in addition to that change in the table, the Hairspray tickets at Costco were 8/19 expiration.
Also a bump to remind everyone to use those BB Rush Hour tickets before they expire in 2 days. One trick I've learned: If you have a free ticket voucher but no time to see the movie before it expires, you can use the voucher to buy a ticket for a future date. Or buy a ticket you know you can't use, and bring it back days or even weeks later, and they'll usually let you exchange it for something else.
Also, in case anyone missed it in the other threads; Cruel Intentions is $5.99 at BB this week, and gets you the free Superbad disc/ticket.

Balls of Fury is worth $7.50 and expires 9/21/07.
Both Resident Evil movie vouchers are worth $10.50 and expire 10/20/07.
There is also a $5 concession cash at BB inside the Resident Evil first two movie pack, it also expires 10/20/07.

Hey, does anyone know any movie cash deals for 30 Days of Night? I'm going to see it anyway saturday and wondered if I could pick up anything for cheap while I'm at it. I think I saw an ad for circuit city advertising a handful of horror titles for $8 or $10 a piece with free movie cash on all of them for it. I wonder if that was just for that week or if they're all specially marked in store still? If they still likely have some in the store I wonder if anybody remembers what the titles were? Any info is appreciated. Send me an e-mail if anybody knows anything. Thanks.

Yes, they are separate little sealed paperboard sleeves with the $7 ticket inside.
They ring up free with any purchase, not just Ratatouille.
If your store is out (look in the front Ratatouille display, the new release aisles, the Disney section, inside the microwaves, etc) I am sure they will get more in. One of my local stores has 300 more on order, and they had 100+ to start with.
The free tickets for No Country for Old Men are likely in the action section, also free with any purchase.

Wish I knew about this as I even bought another DVD on the same visit as when I picked up my "pickup/instore order" of Ratatouille. Could have got two tickets right then & there - ugh. I'll be hitting Best Buy on Tuesday for the "Live Free Or Die Hard" 2 Disc Collectors Edition (awesome about the free ticket for "Hitman") so I'll try to get another free ticket for Ratatoullie then. (So now both of my cousins kids can go for free! lol) They had tons of them in both the Ratatoullie display and in the Disney section when I went to pickup my order of "Smallville-Season #5" (and yes I did get a free Aquaman disc!) yesterday. So odds of there being at least one left come Tuesday are pretty good-lol!

Whats Enchantment? :)
Yeah I meant to type "Enchanted" instead of "Ratatouille" when it came to what movie the free ticket was for.
Well I went yesterday as I said and bought "Live Free or Die Hard" 2 Disc, "Departed" 2 Disc and "Blood Diamond" 2 Disc and wounded up with not only another ticket for "Enchanted" but also "Hitman" (which came with the LFODH dvd) and two free movie tickets for "No Country For Old Man". There was about six of the "Enchanted" movie ticket left - had to go get them in the Disney section by the "Ratatouille" dvds as the display was already taken down. And there was about six or so of the "No Country For Old Man" movie tickets left in the action section. Had no problem with the movie tickets ringing up for free.

I found one for I Am Legend in my copy of Blow at Best Buy for $5.99. It was supposed to have a Golden Compass ticket inside.
Now that I think about it, I don't remember there being a sticker for Golden Compass on the shrinkwrap for Blow. It was just in the same section as all the other DVDs w/ the Golden Compass cash and I probably assumed it had one inside. The only thing different about this edition compared to a plain old Blow DVD, I think, was a bar code sticker on the shrinkwrap covering the original bar code.

Maybe that's how I ended up getting two 'Enchanted' tickets. I picked up 'Ratatouiile' to get the 'Enchanted' ticket. Then I picked up 'Willow' so that I could get one of the 'Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium' tickets. When I got home, I looked in my bag and found two 'Enchanted' tickets, when I knew I had only picked up one from the shelf. I know the computer came up with a message about the 'Enchanted' ticket offer after she rang me up, so I think she threw in another one (though I noticed on my receipt that there were two rung up). I think they just ring up at 0.00, so if you hand them to the cashier, with or without 'Ratatouille', it will ring up. I don't think they're supposed to be with any DVD, but that's probably the reason you're getting them, but I could be wrong.

I saw several copies of Soylent Green with I am Legend tickets at a PA Best Buy recently. Soylent Green had different cover art from the older release but otherwise I didn't detect any differences in the features. This might deserve its own thread because this is the first time I can remember that one of these free ticket offers hasn't been advertised or promoted, not even getting a special display in the store. The movie's opening in only 6 days.

I wish I had thought of that. I had 3 of these tickets, and never got to use them. The movie didn't open in my area until I left town on a business trip. Then I tried to use them on the road, but I kept working late and the stupid theater didn't have shows later than 7pm (but Fandango kept saying they did, so I wasted 2 trips to the theater!) So I have no intention on seeing this movie anymore, since I am bitter...
Anyway, I did get to see Awake for free. I had an Enchanted ticket, but had missed the showtime by 30 minutes. The cashier was nice and said I could see another movie if I wanted, so I saw Awake. Glad it was free...
Then I used a Mr. Magorium pass to see Enchanted for free on a different night... This week I need to see Hitman, before that expires. Glad the Golden Compass passes don't expire for a while...

I've got a free moviecash ticket for Atonement which I got in Pride & Prejudice SE. Unfortunately it expires Dec. 23rd. It opened in 32 theaters on the 7th & is expanding the 14th (according to boxofficemojo) to 100 theaters. If it doesn't go wide on the 21st it's fucking useless. Why put out moviecash for a film only for 3 weeks when it's not scheduled for wide release? Maybe a week from Friday on the 21st it'll go wide but there are five major movies coming out on Dec. 21 so I sincerely doubt it.

What I've done in similar instances is to go ahead and use the voucher before it expires, even if I have no time to see the movie right then. I either use the voucher to buy a ticket on a future date when I'm free, or just buy a random ticket and not use it.
Going back to the theater with an old but unused ticket always gets me in. I just explain that I bought a ticket in advance but then couldn't make it, and they always let me in.

Great point. Only problem is they won't take the movie cash until the movie begins to play here. So far it's in only 32 theaters (going to 100 Friday). If it widens the 21st I'll have 3 days to use it (& I will). Only problem is that there are five major wide releases opening the 21st & I highly doublt we'll get Atonement before the movie money expires.

Disney really screwed up with the National Treasure 2 disc release. If they had wanted to sell a ton including getting a lot of people to double dip they would've a) had a major sale price on it. NO one had it for less than $19.99, b) put movie cash in the National Treasure nationwide and c) gave double points for Disney Movie Rewards like they did with Underdog. Had their marketing dept. done that they probably would've sold a shitload more dvds.

Awesome. No one around here has any more power or say than anyone else (except the mods), people just start doing things and sometimes they catch on, sometimes they don't.
You might just want to start a new thread, as many find that these types of threads work best if the first post is updated. I had earlier asked MC for the formatting code he used in post one, but never got it. You could design your own, or get his if you want to keep the same format.
Again, these are just my personal opinions on how to do things, anyone here is welcome to do whatever they please.

The new thread should look very familar. The tickets table remains with only slight changes to the format. (I moved the Expiration column and cleaned up some of the formatting.)
Please use this new thread for updates and discussion.
