Help with SciFi Quote

Friend is looking for help completing a quote and finding the movie it is from. All he remembers is that it is a scifi film and he thought Spock said it. The quote is, "For human beings to assume that they are the only intelligent life in the universe..."

Any help would be appreciated.

It's similar to a quote from Spock in Star Trek IV, "There are other forms of intelligent life on Earth, Doctor. Only human arrogance would assume the message must be meant for man."
