Ironweed on R1 DVD?
I have written both Criterion and Kino about this film. I've written Criterion for year (also on Tarkovsky's 'Stalker' but last Novemeber I got my wish on that with a release from Kino). So now I'm down to Ironweed...
The author of the novel 'Ironweed', which won him the 1984 Pulitzer, wrote the screenplay himself.
Nicholson and Steep Oscar nominated as well as some other nominations if I remember.
A real achievement in cinema, an important film. One of my 'top 10' (a list which changes almost as quickly as I can remember great films I like)
It's never been released in a proper DVD release.
One swedish release that's not region 1 and a very poor transfer at that.
i've just found this place... (where the hell have i been?...)
Wondering about some of your thoughts on this? Any news that it may be released?. Anything at all?...

Man...
So nothing on this one huh?
I was hoping someone knew something here, 61,000+ members and all.
I hope it's done well on DVD soon.
It's one of the best films America has ever produced.

This is a good film, but all seems quiet on the release front.
I feel your pain. Lots of us have a not-exactly-blockbuster title that few people seem to care about, but we love, that is languishing in DVD oblivion.
Mine is At Play in the Fields of the Lord.
EDIT: Also a Hector Babenco movie!

I believe this was produced in the same deal as MONSTER SQUAD, therefoe it is probably owned by Lions gate, who wount sub-license it to anyone, and if it comes out on DVD , probably be a full frame transfer.

Ugh. From DVD Times:
I'll pass. Lionsgate seems committed to releasing all of their catalog titles in lousy pan and scan editions.
Ironweed - $14.98 SRP - Jack Nicholson and Meryl Streep star in this drama directed by Hector Babenco. A barebones release, the film is presented in Full Screen with English stereo sound and English and Spanish subtitles.

Thanks for the bump anyway.
I won't buy this on principle.
Jack Asses doing a fool screen on this film.

Re: Ironweed...
The number of Lionsgate releases that I own remains small. And is likely to continue to be so if they continue to put out these non-OAR releases.
