I hate to say it but Ashton Kutcher is a genius
Not a great actor or anything but I started watching Hollyhood his new show and its great. So that makes his track record

I'm just curious if he really came up with them or someone behind the scenes created them and threw his name on it for publicity.

Punk'd is a clever update of that old TV Bloopers and Practical Jokes show that Dick Clark and Ed McMahon used to do. But genius?
Beauty and the Geek was also clever, although I question what degree of involvement he had with that.
Never saw Wedding Crashers and never heard of the other one.

Even if I bend and give you Punk'd just for the impact it had when it first aired thats still 1-3. If he was John Doe and not Ashton he wouldn't be allowed to make tv shows anymore
