Superman/Batma: Generations.

For Iron Man, I would suggest ARMOR WARS tpb and DEMON IN A BOTTLE tpb.

The former is about Iron Man going to war with all the armoured guys in the Marvel Universe because he's worried that his secret tech was stolen or something like that.

The latter is about alcoholism. Best Iron Man storyline EVAR, in my opinion. It was the 80s. I was easier to please back then.

These are team books, but they have the characters you're looking for:

Marvels
Kingdom Come

Marvels is about the beginnings and the major events of the Marvel universe seen through the eyes of a reporter.

Kingdom Come is about the future and last days of the DC universe also seen through a regular human's eyes - I forget who...

They are both excellent reads, with some of the best painted art (by Alex Ross) you've ever seen.
