All Silent Hill editions?

I was going to ask this really quick in Giggles's SAW thread, but didn't want to take that off-topic. I'm trying to collect all dvd versions of Silent Hill, and I compiled a list of what I think is out there. If anyone has more information to add, it would be appreciated. I'm trying to finish this mini-collection off before I do the same to Grindhouse when it comes out.

R1-America
Widescreen
/Best Buy Bonus disc
/Circuit City Comic Book
Fullscreen
UMD
Blu-ray

R1-Canada

R2-France
2-Disc Collector's Edition

R2-German
Widescreen
2-Disc Steelbook

R2-Holland

R2-Japan
3-Disc edition
4-Disc premium with Bluray

R2-UK
Widescreen

R3-Hong Kong

R4-Australia

R5-Russian

Please let me know if that about covers it or if I'm missing something. Thank you in advance.

Check out DVDCompare.net

It seems like it's a boat load of awesomeness; well if you like the game series that is.

Lots of good stuff (including slick packaging), but no DTS like the great quality Edko R3.

The edit button should be right next to the quote button at the bottom right. If you can't see either, odds are that you're running Firefox and one of your ad-blocker plug-ins needs to be shut off, as it treats those buttons as ads.

Great idea about Silent Hill. I also wanted to do it, but yet stopped on 4-disc Japanese edition and R2 UK LE Steelbook
Here're some additions (if some links don't work, just enter the site and type in the title):

R2 Sweden - http://www.sfbok.se/asp/artikel.asp?VolumeID=62202
R2 Denmark - http://www.laserdisken.dk/html/visv...531408524331906
R2 Denmark (different cover)- http://www.videonetto.dk/?52X31X3531X32O6037AT313
R2 Finland - http://www.huuto.net/fi/showitem.php3?itemid=53439332
R2 Spain - collector's special edition - http://www.dvdgo.com/product~catgid...ial+Edition.htm
Also there're two Spanish double-packs where Silent Hill comes with Ring and Ring 2
R2 Italy - http://www.thrauma.it/dettaglio.php...io=dvd&id=20567
R2 Japan - Regular (2 disc) edition - http://global.yesasia.com/en/PrdDept...id-1004493868/
R2 UK - (Virgin stores' exclusive LE Steelbox) - try to look for the cover here - http://www.silenthillforum.co.uk/
R3 Korea - http://global.yesasia.com/en/PrdDept...id-1004583778/

Couldn't find it now, but I'm pretty sure there's a Norwegian edition as well as other Scandinavian releases.

It's in French... but here's what Wikipedia says:

"Director Christophe Gans will supervise a remastered 2 disc collectors edition DVD release of the film for release near completion of the second Silent Hill film. It has been hinted that the release may be a HD-DVD/DVD bundled package.[4]"

They're making a sequel? Didn't the first one bomb?

Bomb? Meh, not entirely. But nowhere near what a Silent Hill movie should have raked in, especially with a production budget of $50m and a domestic gross less than the prod. budget.

~$100m worldwide.

I do remember reading an interview with Gans that says something to the effect of "I'll make it scarier this time around" and that he learned from his mistakes on the first one (including more slamming doors and fear elements, etc.).

Gans is far too talented to be wasting his time with a video game franchise, IMO. The first movie had some good elements, but was way too dumb.

Out of curiosity, why do you (and others) want to buy every single version of a single movie? I would guess many are identical, except maybe for the cover. Some are even fullscreen. What is the benefit? I understand wanting to collect things - nothing wrong with that - but what is the desire to collect basically one thing many times? Assuming you don't plan to ever watch all these, what is the point?

Tell that to Xage and his Evil Dead collection.

I thought Silent Hill was the best video game adaptation thus far in the make-video-games-into-movies trend. Even though the ending was totally weird, it was a decent film (If you know the video games).

For me, it comes from the love of the film. This and Grindhouse are the only movies I plan on doing this for. And besides, I figure what with Criterions, Eclipse, Godzilla, Masters of Horror, Tartan Asia Extreme, and the Midnite Movies I don't have enough expensive stuff to compulsively collect. lol And honestly, I only plan on buying the ones with different looking packaging. Like I won't buy the US fullframe just because it looks exactly like the widescreen. I'm just looking for a complete list so I can go compare all of them. And they're going to be a part of a bigger overall Silent Hill collection with the games, music, posters, etc.

Which by the way, thank you for everyone replying. People on here, especially Giggles, really know their stuff. Thank you very much.

Anytime, friend By the way it would be interesting (at least for me) if you kept us informed about how the process is going on. Don't forget to post what you managed to obtain.
