The Wire, Season 1- 24.99 at Best Buy

Hey guys, newbie here (first post).

Anyway, just wanted to let everyone know my local Best Buy (Snellville, GA) had Season 1 of The Wire for 24.99 Sunday. It was not listed in the flier, nor was it recognized by the computers when they scanned it. However, they had printed labels in the HBO section for The Wire and other seasons of other shows on HBO that were on sale. I showed them the sign, and rang it up for 24.99. Awesome deal, I think.

Anyway, just keep a heads up this week if you're in Best Buy. I thought the price was pretty good. It was regularly 54.99.

Thanks,
-Stephen

My Best Buy had the same thing. I thought they might have forgotten to take the sales card down (it was on sale for 24.99 a few weeks ago) but it listed 5/12 as the end date.

It's probably YMMV, since it's not listed at that price on Best Buy's website, but definitely worth checking out if you haven't seen the show; one of the best blind buys I've ever made.

I did the same. A friend of mine recommended it, saying it was amazing. I took the chance with such a good price.

Sorry, what does YMMV mean? Totally new to the DVD forum lingo.

YMMV= Your Mileage May (Might) Vary

Used to denote an instance where a good deal may not be widely available or may only be a product of an individual location of a chain.

By the way, I saw The Wire: S1 at Sam's Club the other day for $22.99.

I forget, is this the season where all they say for an entire scene is "fuck" - that was a great episode.

for those looking for Season 3, the most recent HBO mailing list email for The Wire mentioned that the MSRP for Season 3 has been reduced to $59.99 - but so far it has been only reflected on their online store (where's it's now out of stock). All other retailers still have the MSRP at $99.99, but I would assume they will see a drop soon, as well.

edit to add: it looks like the Warner Brothers Store is reflecting the price drop on Season 3. With the current 20% off code (see WB Store thread), Seasons 2 and 3 can be had for $38 each plus shipping (free shipping if you buy both since shipping is free on orders of $60 or more)

wow, thats a great deal. i bought my season 3 at the Best Buy 50% off sale because i wanted it so badly (it was 84 there, 42 after the discount). most i have paid for a box set in a very long time. IMHO, best show on TV, hands down. The only problem with getting the season 3 set is that you will want to watch season 4 right after it, and its not out yet!!

MSRP drop is great news - hopefully it will kick in before the DD 20% off sale.

What great timing! I just got back from Vegas with some extra cash, and season 2-3 of the Wire are at the top of my list. $82 shipped is the best price I have seen. I finished season one a couple weeks ago, and I agree that it is an awesome show.

Thanks for clueing me in about the WB deal!

Huh?

Anyway, I received my seasons yesterday via UPS. That was really fast! I guess it helps they are only like 2 hrs away.
