New Michael McDermott album out now!

Well albums have come and gone over the last few years I've been reading this forum and I haven't really seen anyone but myself even mention Michael's name. Well, he has a new distribution label and a new album out as of April 24th and I thought I'd see if I could drum up any discussion for my all time favorite musician. His new album is called "Noise From Words" and is available for purchase/download from http://www.onelittleindian-us.com/new/.

Michael began his career back in '90 with the album "620 W. Surf" and even had quite a popular MTV hit with the song "A Wall I Must Climb" After the release of the albums "Gethsemane" and "Michael McDermott", his label went belly up and, since then, he's received virtually no real promotional support despite continuing to release superb albums that are capable of great introspection and rocking out with the best of them.

My mom gave me a copy of his first album as a gift when it first came out...she loved the acoustic nature of his performances and really enjoyed the poetic nature of his lyrics. This album got her through some dark times in her life back then. Even now, it stands alone in Michael's catalog...it's acoustic, it's dark and not nearly as even as later releases, but it still holds a very special place in my heart, esp. "Murder in the First Degree", "Sacred Ground", "Death in the autum air", and "Mr. Simmons' Arkansas Christmas Blues" After this album came out, I didn't even realize for years he had continued to release more records...it was the only time in his career that I remember seeing record stores with huge stocks of his album...now nothing.

Michael has released song after song that rank among the very best in my experience with the singer/songwriter/confessional genre. There aren't many musicians who can all out rock as well as Michael and still pen a quiet, peaceful, introspective song as well. I keep hoping with every new release that Michael will break out to become more well-known (although singer/songwriters rarely become of superstar proportions). If anyone deserves success, this man does.

No, he's not 'new', he's not 'indie', but he certainly deserves to be tried with an open mind the same as all these other underdog musicians that get such a push on forums like this.

Michael
