The disc is not priced and scans at $24.97, but the price tag on the shelf reads "ODD COUPLE $5.50". The UPC number on the tag is not the same as that on the DVD except for the first few digits. I brought the clerk over to the shelf, showed her the price tag and received the disc for $5.50.

YMMV nothing. That is just a misprice. They went back and changed it just as soon as you left the store.

That was just a misplaced item. The shelf tag/upc was probably for the "Odd Couple" movie which has been in the dump bin or on the shelf at that price for a while. You just got the associate who did not want an argument, did not know enough to care, or did not look closely enough. Probably all three.

Not accusing you of doing it, but the dishonest person might "make their own mileage" by switching the stickers from the $5.50 movie to the S1 set :O.

we're talking walmart here.
stranger incidents have been able to replicate themselves in our universe.
the circumstances could add up in my estimation-
1 S1 odd couple
1 incorrect sticker
1 wal-mart employee (unconcerned)
=
possible deal in another location
don't be so hard on the OP

Someone probably slapped a sticker for the Odd Couple movie on the TV set.

Ok guys, the way the shelf tags work, there's no legitimate reason for that shelf tag to even exist, let alone be there. Someone up high screwed up bad, and put the wrong Odd Couple into the sheet of tags for the shelf.
They get printed in a big sheet, pre-determined. They don't sticker based on the item (they use shelf tags, not stickers anyway) or anything.
This means it is very possible for this deal to reappear (barring some mischevious employee at that store).
