I've just lost any desire to watch Carlos after hearing about his theft of material and seeing how he reacted to being called on it (granted, Joe Rogan was a complete douchebag in how he did the calling).

It's quite amazing how comedians who I guess "make it big" always go through this "he's not that funny" stage from fans. Dane cook and carlos mencia seem to be going through this as we speak, granted I think Cook & mencia have there hilarious moments and their corny ones as well.
I just always find it odd that this always happens when certain comedians make the main stream. I could remember a time listening to opie and anthony when they were on WNEW here in NYC and jay mohr was on talking about how certain comedians were stealing material from a not yet mainstream famous carlos mencia and at the same time was singing his praises.
Sorry for the threadjack....

Well, if a comedian is actually funny, (s)he probably never finds his or herself on the receiving end of "backlash." If he or she is a hack who does their best to warp and distort the cultural values of an entire people, or thinks that if they yell the "punchline" of their joke loud enough it somehow achieves aural alchemy and becomes funny, then yes, there might be some "backlash" once they've made it big. Backlash as in, "I can't believe they actually made it big, good taste has taken a whipping"

Sorry, folks... when I started this thread, I thought maybe someone would actually be interested in the dvds... I don't watch his show, so I can't pass judgment one way or another as to his material, but I'm certainly not fond of those who base their act on racism! Didn't mean to bring out such ill feelings in you all!
