Order to watch Hannibal films in?
The only Hannibal film I have seen is Red Dragon, and my wife likes the movies and wants to see Hannibal Rising, so I was wondering if anyone can suggest the order to watch them in. Should I go HR (Hannibal Rising)>RD (Red Dragon)>SL (Silence of the Lambs)>H (Hannibal) since that's the order of the story, or would I be better off in the release order (SL>H>RD>HR)? Is there anything in HR that would give stuff away in SL or H?

It really depends on your point of view. While there's certainly a chronology to the stories, the sequels were only made because they kept making money and not because it was originally conceived as a trilogy. I would watch Silence of the Lambs and then the rest in the order they were released.

I have't seen Hannibal Rising yet either but I'd go:
Silence of the Lambs
Hannibal
Manhunter
Red Dragon
Hannibal Rising
Why? I have no idea.

If I were doing a Hannibal Lecter Marathon, it would go...
***start Hannibal Lecter Marathon***
1. The Silence Of The Lambs
***end Hannibal Lecter Marathon***

Just watch "Red Dragon" and "The Silence of the Lambs".
"Manhunter" and "Hannibal" are awful for different reasons. "Manhunter" is terribly directed, acted, written etc. The only redeeming quality is the brilliant source material and even that was bastardized by Mann. "Hannibal" on the other hand is beautifully directed, acted, shot but the book upon which it is based is just so mind-blowingly awful that the movie never had a chance to be any good.
I never saw "Hannibal Rising" but I did read the book and I can honestly say it's the worst book I've ever read. There's no way a good movie could have come from it unless drastic changes were made and from what I understand it's a very "faithful adaptation" because Thomas Harris simultaneously wrote both the screenplay and the novel.
So yeah, "Red Dragon" and "The Silence of the Lambs" are the only two of the five worth watching.

Watch Silence and Hannibal.
Silence is a great flick, no problems there.
Hannibal is a nice follow up, though a totally different kind of movie. It's a very well done, very dark comedy. Some things may seem out of character, but odds are you'll be entertained.
I wasn't a fan of Red Dragon (terribly stiff acting from Norton, lackluster direction, and Hannibal came off as more pecuilar than anything, and wasn't terribly interesting. Finnes was good though.) or Hannibal Rising and missed Manhunter.
